But considering the fact that majority of the fats expected to be consumed on a ketogenic diet, sterns from meats, fish, poultry, eggs and its like; the ketogenic diet is not really suitable for people on a vegetarian diet and vegans in general. So how does a vegan or an individual on a vegetarian diet enjoy the benefit of the ketogenic diet without leaving a dent on his/her belief or subjecting his/her diet to a sabotage? The answer is quite simple; by adopting some principles from the vegetarian diet and ketogenic diet, we can create a diet that encapsulates the benefits of the ketogenic diet while also been suitable for adoption by a vegan or vegetarian. What is a ketogenic diet?

A ketogenic diet is a low carbohydrate, high fat diet with moderate intake of protein that allows the body to produce ketones in the liver as a source of body energy instead of the regular production of glucose found in most individuals. Ketones are created as a result of the high consumption of fat that replaces the production of glucose gotten from the excess intake of carbohydrate into the body system hence leading to obesity and other resulting health deficiency and diseases caused by the body's storage of fats. The state wherein the body system begins to produce ketones in place of glucose is called ketosis. Ketosis is reached when a dieter's macronutrients is around 5% of carbohydrate 75% of fats and 20% of proteins.
