Irene Ellis
Emma Heathcote-James suggests that the rise of belief in angels is part of the Macdonaldisation of religion: the growth of a pick and mix, off the shelf spirituality, in which elements of different religious traditions are fused together. The stories here seem to bear that out.
The Magonia Review
Hundreds of British people have claimed to have experienced visions of angels. These are ordinary people from all walks of life, from professionals to prisoners to children. Emma Heathcote-James has interviewed more than 800 of them and records a large number of their experiences in Seeing Angels. Looking at these experiences from an objective point of view, she then attempts to form tentative conclusions as to why and how people see angels. The weight of evidence she presents may well lead you to adjust the way you have previously considered the supernatural.

But why are people treated as odd for speaking of the experience asks Heathcote-James, if one in three of us has them?

Through the centuries, dogs and other animals have shown their dedication to mankind in a variety of ways. Some have exhibited courage in extreme situations, others, by total dedication and affection to their owners.
The following compilation is but a small number of those instances that deserve our respect, admiration and gratitude. This book is dedicated to all loyal pets, registered assistance animals and their charities. Not forgetting, of course, my very own special four legged friend, Mr Mutley.

W ithout doubt, the wind of change is blowing in all areas of mind, body and spirit. From a mere zephyr a decade ago, to the gale we are experiencing today, people all over the world are more than happy to talk about spiritual experiences of every kind, leading to an acceptance of a psycho-spiritual element in animals. In the ten years I have been researching and writing about the paranormal mainly in relation to angels I have noticed more and more stories reaching me about the spiritual aspect of animals.
From the dawn of time, animals have been important to mankind, not just for their ability to work for man, but also for their close relationship to humans. Indigenous peoples had a deep respect for animals and a keen understanding of their qualities and psychic abilities. As society becomes more sophisticated, however, it looses the once simple ability to communicate on a deeper level with animals. Ancient Egyptians literally worshiped their cats, recognising what amazing creatures they were and strived to communicate with them on a daily basis. In the Middle Ages, cats were often associated with witchcraft and special powers, inducing fear in the general population. Could this stem from the fact that the so-called witch happened to be on the same wavelength as their pets? The old clich use it or loose it certainly rings true it is time we began to plug in to these special and readily-available powers to communicate with our pets.
It is a well-known and recognised fact that animals are super sensitive. Numerous natural history programmes on television today underline this fact. Pictures of elephants for instance, mourning the loss of a partner or offspring, bring tears to ones eyes on seeing such overwhelming tenderness and empathy; dolphins displaying the near-human ability to communicate with one another; and also the family bonds of the great apes. I recall the story related in the national press some years ago, of a young boy falling into a gorilla enclosure, where he lay unconscious on the pit floor. His distraught mother and horrified onlookers watched as a huge female gorilla approached the limp little body. Far from harming the boy, however, she gently stood watch and kept more boisterous gorillas at bay until the keeper could reach the child. Such sensitivity is a mere step away from the psychic ability recorded in these pages.
Emma Heathcote-James has researched her subject with admirable thoroughness, covering many aspects of animal behaviour with stories that leave one simply astonished. We are all familiar with accounts of people suffering bereavement and declaring that their pet understands and displays love and affection in abundance at such times. However, this book goes beyond such familiar and everyday accounts to give a comprehensive overview of the remarkable psychic ability of the animal kingdom. This book will inspire you to tune in and discover your pets in a totally different light. Whether whispering to a horse or feeling a close bond of love with a tiny pet rabbit, the ability to communicate psychically is clearly possible. On reading this book, sceptics may find their lack of belief wavering, for it cannot fail to touch us on a deeply spiritual level. Uplifting and heart-warming, Psychic Pets will inspire and alter our attitude to pets forever.
Glennyce S Eckersley,
author of Angel Awakenings
Until one has loved an animal, a part of ones soul remains unawakened.
ANATOLE FRANCE
L iving and breathing organisms often demonstrate a so-called sixth sense a power of perception beyond the normal five senses. Call it intuition, an inner voice, a psychic power or vibes, animals and humans share this capacity to respond to their environments in ways we know little about. Animals instinctively know how to live and what they need birds migrate, some mammals hibernate, they can anticipate danger, know what to eat and are aware of changing weather. The majority of we humans have all our basic needs met and have consequently forgotten to listen to our bodies and inner voice. The animals have not and this is why we have so much to learn from them.
It wasnt until I started researching for this book that I realised the huge role animals play in our lives, even if we are not fully aware of their impact. Whether they help us through an emotionally difficult time, bring us joy or physically rescue us, pets can not only be our best friends, but lifesavers, too. Of course, I had heard of Guide Dogs for the Blind and Hearing Dogs but I wasnt aware of the vast role played by Support Dogs, Dogs for the Disabled or the incredible Seizure Alert Dogs. It is not just dogs did you know that 10,000 cats are employed by the British Government to keep official buildings rodent free? Or the extent to which all animals have been, and still are being, used in war?
