The women in this book push against the grain, defy complacency, and reach for their dreams. That alone is remarkable; but more remarkable still is that they do it for the good of others. In that, they inspire us all to speak and live from our hearts. Sharon Stone, actress

A groundbreaking, courageous testimony to the power of women's voices to speak out, to risk, to break barriers, to find truth. But this book isn't just about women. Filled with wisdom and gratitude like a Thanksgiving banquet with cherished friends, it inspires me to remember that it takes courage and humility to love and to be loved which is a generous meal indeed. Barnet Bain, producer of What Dreams May Come

TABLE OF CONTENTS
Courage has many faces: Challenging injustice, breaking barriers, reaching out, being vulnerable, being different, persevering against all odds... just for a start. Clumping these stories into manageable categories is like trying to corral courage. What would I do with Isabel Allende, who stood boldly against a patriarchal system in Chile, risked her life to help others during a military coup, and endured the long death of her beloved daughter?
Forgive the structure here. It doesn't do justice to the rich and complex landscape within. It merely hints. Read where you are drawn to read. But also read randomly. You'll find yourself in stories that surprise you. I like to hold the book, close my eyes, ask for the thing that I need to hear or ponder at that moment... and open.
