For the entire erotic hypnosis community, and for those who teachand guide them.
GettingStarted
InJuly of 2013 I published Mind Play: A Guide to Erotic Hypnosis. It was a labor of love: a resource for the erotic hypnosiscommunity, who have so few good sources for learning, and a way ofmaking myself more widely available, albeit by proxy, to those whowant to learn erotic hypnosis. At the time I figured it was a nicheproduct with a small audience; it would likely sell maybe 300 copiesand then taper off.
Whatactually happened has far exceeded anything I ever imagined or hopedfor. As of May 2015 over 2,500 copies of Mind Play have beensold (ebook and print editions combined) and it continues to sell ata consistent pace. The community has been incredibly kind (thoughnot reluctant to smack me when I deserved it) and has actually madethings possible for me that I thought were never going to happen. And so, it's time for me to give some more back.
TheMind Play Study Guide continues the work that we started in MindPlay: A Guide to Erotic Hypnosis. If you've read Mind Playsome of that material is repeated here, but in greater depth.
TheStudy Guide covers a broader range of topics than Mind Play, especially topics for the intermediate and advanced hypnotist butalso for the beginner. Each chapter in the Study Guide covers oneaspect of erotic hypnosis at a deep level of detail, with theexamples and anecdotes (and occasional tongue-in-cheek observations)you would expect from a Wiseguy class.
Eachchapter has been deliberately written to stand alone. Sometimesthat means that some fundamental concepts are repeated. I n the chapter on triggers, forexample, you will find discussion of how to form triggers safely andeffectively. A lot of the same material is also included in theearlier chapter on forming suggestions, because it's relevant andimportant in that context too. Asa result, your path through the Study Guide doesn't have to belinear you can take the chapters in whatever order you like without havingto flip around to other chapters to pick up important pieces . This structure also makesit easy to use this material in a couple of different ways.
Ifyou are seeking to learn erotic hypnosis, then each chapterrepresents a self-contained lesson in your studies. Read thechapter through, give some thought to the Discussion Points you'llfind at the of each chapter, and do the Exercises to practice usingthe content in the chapter. By the end of the book you will havehad an opportunity to do a lot of very cool and sexy things.
Ifyou are part of a local erotic hypnosis community group andespecially if you are a leader, who is expected to teach as well asto facilitate regular meetings then what you have here are 27individual classes which you can turn into one- to two-hourpresentations for your group. You may find topics in here thatyou'd like to see presented on but have nobody who feels comfortabledoing so, in which case you can have a Wiseguy class by proxy. Itshould also come in handy if you have a void in your activityschedule or if a planned speaker has to cancel.
Anotheroption is to use this book as source material for an erotic hypnosisstudy group. Rather than standing up and lecturing, you could haveeveryone read the chapter and then facilitate discussion andpractice of the skills in the chapter. The Discussion Points andExercises come in handy for this, too.
Ifyou don't feel confident teaching a group yet, that's okay. Chapter2, immediately following this one, is a lesson on how to teach. It's based on my The Art of Teaching Hypnosis class that I'vedone at various cons across the country and online via Hypbook. Also, each chapter has a section called Presenter Notes thatcontains advice from me on how you might approach teaching thattopic to a group.
Formy own very selfish reasons, I hope you do use this bookas a teaching tool. In fact, I want you to get hooked on teaching it would make me extremely happy to find out that this study guideis the gateway drug that gets you into teaching erotic hypnosis togroups, either at the local level, regional gatherings, or the bigconventions like NEEHU, MEEHU, and WEEHU. We need fresh ideas, fresh voices, and fresh minds. Yours could be one of them.
Whateveryou do with this, be safe, be responsible, and have fun.

Mypersonal story is already laid out in Mind Play, so I'll justsummarize.
Istarted writing erotic hypnosis fiction in 1999 as Wiseguy, andfigured if I was going to do that I should research my subject. Afew years later I developed an aptitude for it and became aprofessional hypnotherapist, while still writing hypnotic smut andholding a day job and raising four children as a single dad. Isocialized online through the Mind Control Forum and did a littleonline hypnotic play but largely kept to myself for the first decadeor so. Somehow I found the time to write Busman's Holiday, anovel-length fictional work that served as a thinly-veiled erotichypnosis how-to guide, and some 40-plus other pieces of shortfiction which can still be found on mcstories.com andwww.asstr.org/~Wiseguy.
Startingin 2008 I got more involved in the community aspects of erotichypnosis. It started with the New England Leather Alliance FetishFair Flea, where I'd keep company with the New England HypnosisGroup, led at the time by Mephki and Dr. Slashblight. Then came thefirst New England Erotic Hypnosis Unconference (NEEHU), which gaveme my first real opportunity to go out and teach erotic hypnosis asWiseguy in a safe environment. NEEHU thrived and so did I thanks tothe community that grew up around it. In time NEEHU begat WEEHU andMEEHU, making these wonderful learning events available around theUSA and throughout the year.
Realizingthat the day would come when I couldn't travel to every con or visitevery local community group, I wrote and published Mind Play. That book has opened doors not only for me but for the entirecommunity. It's been placed in kink-friendly libraries, sold incommercial book stores, become an educational staple at localhypnosis groups, and it even got me interviewed by Sex Nerd Sandrafor her Nerdist podcast, which introduced a whole bunch of newpeople to erotic hypnosis.
Thejoy of teaching has been bleeding over into my mundane life, too. Ibecame a certified instructor for the largest professional hypnosisorganization in the US. They don't know me as Wiseguy, of course they'd probably throw me out if they did but it's allowed me toexpand my teaching into the professional hypnosis world, and I'mbringing a bunch of extremely talented kinky people into that worldwith me. I've also become a Master Practitioner and Trainer ofNeurolinguistic Programming (NLP), which has led me in some veryinteresting directions. I'm getting closer to letting go of the dayjob and devoting myself to hypnosis, writing, and teaching fulltime. Plus, buried deep in the fertile soil of my hard drive arethe beginnings of other projects.
Staytuned we've only gotten started.
Alot of people have contributed to this book, either directly or bydoing things that inspired me to get off my butt and do it. All ofthe people I thanked in Mind Play come to mind, and in the traditionof that book I want to thank them and some more people up front, because nobody ever reads the ending credits.
