We just cant get enough of the funny stuff kids say. We share our own childrens gems with friends and family. If were smart, we write down these scraps of accidental poetry. And we turn them into books. Martin Bruckner is an artist and father who not only recorded the sayings of his daughter, Harper, but used each as the inspiration for a work of art. After posting them on social media, Bruckner became the artist that other parents sought out to transform their own childrens funny words into artwork. Collected here are 100 mini-posters of pure delight, a marriage of the childrens surprising wisdom and the artists nimble style, plus the occasional backstory that amplifies both. Every parent will recognize the spirited declarations of personalityIm training to be a wolf. The endearing mangling of languageMommy, I dont need your mouth to talk to me right now. The creative mixing of metaphorsI need a tissue to wipe my feelings. Those precious, heartbreaking outbursts without guile or filtersI only love you at the toy store. Illustrated with sweetness and whimsy, each is a window into the irresistible innocence of childhood, even if the sentiment is Dad, please wipe the bum of this beautiful princess.

Being parents who have learned to pick our battles, my wife, Michelle, and I have accepted the fact that a big bowl of spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, or ramen will be on our dinner table more nights than not. One evening in particular, Harper, being a two-year-old, had lost interest in eating the noodles and instead was playing with them. My wife wasnt having any of it, and what I heard next is a phrase that I will never forget: Please dont put spaghetti between your toes. I couldnt believe my ears. I was as equally humored as I was disgusted.

But an idea slithered into my brain just as the noodles had slithered between my daughters toes. Being an artist by profession, my first thought was: that would make for a funny piece of artwork. As time went on and as Harper explored the English language, hilarious phrases became an ever present part of our daily lives, coming from all three of us. I soon began a daily regimen of doodling as many of them as I could. When Mothers Day rolled around, I decided to take a small collection of these newly illustrated musings and put them into a little book for my wife. She loved it, so I threw it out on the Internet and it quickly turned into something that would change all of our lives forever.

After the awesome people behind Pleated-Jeans.com helped our familys antics go viral, I started to help other parents memorialize the sayings of their own child philosophers, geniuses, and comedians. My wife had a small, yet thriving, shop on Etsy, so we added a Custom Quote listing and have been translating childrens wacky, gross, weird, and hilarious sayings into art ever since. Here I am proud to present a compilation of the wackiest, grossest, weirdest, and most accidentally hilarious wisdom, said by children (including my own, of course) and drawn by me. Martin Bruckner
