DEDICATION
I would like to dedicate this book to my family. They have made many sacrifices on a daily basis, as I focus my time on my artwork and leave the dishes and laundry to them! My sincerest thanks to my husband, who works as my Jack of All Trades; to my son, who works as my faster-than-the-speed-of-light secretary; and to my daughter, who works as my devoted kit maker (or, in her own words, does whatever you need me to do, Mom, as long as I can do it in front of the TV). Without my family by my side, I would not have gotten to where I am today. Thank you with all my heart!
Lastly, but most importantly, I thank God for the blessing He has bestowed on me by giving me the desires of my heart. I truly believe that every opportunity I have been given and every creative idea I have ever had comes from Him, Who delights in giving good things to those who love Him. I will always be grateful.
The glory of the Lord fills our work. Sirah 24:16
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
A most heartfelt thanks goes to the incredible artists who so generously collaborated with me on this book. Through this experience together I am honored to now call them my friends: Shahasp Valentine, Gordon Uyehara, Louis Kappel, Robert Dancik, Barbara Becker Simon, Anne Reiss, Maria Martinez, Jane Levy, Patricia Walton Jackie Trudy and Tamela Wells.
I would also like to thank the wonderful ladies who grace my kitchen table on warm Sunday afternoons: Joyce Boyd-Wells, Sharilyn Miller and Anne Reiss. Not only have they inspired me with their own creativity but a part of them is in each jewelry piece I create. They are a constant source of encouragement, as they push me beyond my imagined potential. Without them, I would not be where I am today.
A huge thank you to Tim McCreight who so generously and patiently put up with all my questions, problems and dilemmas. Not only did he answer my every query, he did so clearly and thoroughly. In this past year of interacting with him, I have learned that Tims spirit is one of so much kindness and gentleness that it qualifies as a rare and precious thing. No wonder they call metal clay precious!
A big thank you to Robert Dancik, Cordon Uyehara, Ivy Solomon, Patricia Walton, Anne Reiss and Tonya Davidson, who graciously guided me, tirelessly answering all of my questions. I would also like to thank Jennifer Fellinger and Christine Doyle, my editors, and Christine Polomsky, my photographer, for all their hard work and gracious help, especially during the intense week of our photo shoot. Additionally I would like to thank Art Clay World and the PMC Guild, which helped me with many metal clay facts, and to Whole Lotta Whimsy, PMC Tool and Supply/Chris Darway Designs, Cool Tools, Holly Gage, Art Threads, and Hattie Sanderson for generously contributing tools and materials for this project.
