Brittany Deal is the founder and CEO of Savvy Girl, a lifestyle brand that publishes micro how-to books that help women thrive. As a lifetime lover of learning, Brittany craved the knowledge nonfiction books promised to offer, but found most of them painfully boring to read. After giving up on another how-to book in the middle of a quarter-life crisis trip to the Bolivian Amazon, Brittany had an epiphany: We are drowning in information yet starved for knowledge. With the idea of creating one go-to source for information-rich, yet concise books written in a girlfriend-to-girlfriend style, Brittany launched Savvy Girl. Brittany partners with top-notch experts to co-create these informative, fun, and quick reads so women can get savvyand then get back to living their fabulous lives.

[ BRITT: It was New Years Day morning and the throbbing pain of a hangover from a New Years Eve wedding had me out of bed at an early hour. Memories of dancing the night away, bottomless Champagne, and lots of glitter and confetti (some of which was still stuck to me) meant I succeeded in ending 2012 with a bang. With a freshly brewed cup of coffee in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other I was ready to charge into 2013 with some New Years resolutions.
Ive always loved resolutions because I love the idea of starting fresh. But this years New Years resolutions werent making me feel as invigorated as usual. I scanned my list and realized why: my resolution to lose weight. That darn resolution had been on my list every single year. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldnt seem to cross it off my list, and it was officially starting to irk me.
So I pulled out my pen again. Next to my weight-loss goal, I wrote for good with an underline and far too many exclamation marks.
For most of my twenties, I tried every workout routine imaginable to get skinny. I joined (and quit) about three different gyms, I took Pilates classes at $25 a pop, I forced myself to go to six a.m. boot camps, and I pushed myself to nearly fainting levels at circuit-training classes. I began each new workout regimen thinking it would be my golden ticket to skinny bitch land.
