As an advocate for the ketogenic diet and keto lifestyle, hes the recipe developer, food photographer, and videographer behind the popular blog fatforweightloss.com.au, where he creates and shares delicious ketogenic recipes that are comforting, quick, and simple to make.
From living out his dream to cycle through Europe with nothing but a tent in tow, to climbing 4,500 meters in one-day cycling events, and to running marathons using the unusual endurance diet of high-fat, low-carb foods, Aaron is dedicated to pushing past what is deemed possible, and helping others to do the same. Through ambitious goals, Aaron has realized that it is not the outcome that you learn the most from, its the journey and struggles along the way that make you better.
When I was younger, I grew up in an environment where I was surrounded by a wealth of health knowledge. There was an emphasis on consuming micronutrients, natural supplements, and an abundance of healthy foods, while avoiding foods that could produce allergies. But as I grew up and became a musician, I began to live a very frugal lifestyle that had a negative impact on my health and my endocrine system. I was overworked, tired, and underpaid; it was a recipe for malnourishment and subsequent digestive issues that were a direct result of my own poor food choices. To fix the problem, I began to study and research nutrition and discovered that fat was not the enemy, but rather, instead, carbohydrates and sugar were the enemies. I realized that if I could starve my body of the carbs and sugar it was using for fuel, my body would then turn to burning by own fat to create the energy it needed.
The Fat For Weight Loss name for my blog is a bit of a poke at what much of society thinks is making us all obese: fat. What were learning is that, in fact, consuming fat while greatly reducing your carbohydrate intake can actually make you thin! Thats where the ketogenic diet comes in. The ketogenic diet is a revolutionary way to lose weight and improve your health by changing how and what you eat. But, theres a catch. If you already follow the keto diet, you know you simply cant eat the sugar and carbs that are present in traditional sweets, and that means enjoying sweet treats is one of the biggest challenges about following the ketogenic diet. But what if you could create mouthwatering cookies, decadent cakes, luscious ice creams, and comforting pies that not only are healthy but will also help you stay in a fat burning mode? By purchasing this book, youve taken a big step toward doing just that.
The recipes in this book contain desserts that are not only keto-friendly; theyre delicious and will satisfy anyone with a sweet tootheven those sweet tooths who arent doing keto! Best of all, theyll help you achieve your health goals without the sugar and carbs, which means youll be following a lifestyle that will impart lasting changes to your health.
Following keto isnt always easy, and adopting a healthy lifestyle can be time consuming, costly, and require a lot of hard work, but going keto and utilizing your own biochemistry to change your health for the better is one of the most important and lasting changes you can make in your life. And the good news is that you can do it all without giving up dessert!

Getting Started
This chapter will explain some of the essential ingredients, handy techniques, and useful equipment youll be using to make your keto desserts and treats.
An essential part of following the ketogenic diet is eliminating most of the sugar and carbs from your diet. So where does that leave dessert? Is it really possible to enjoy sweet treats on a keto diet? Absolutely!
If youve picked up this book, its likely you already know that the ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that requires reducing carbohydrate intake to the point that your body begins burning stored fat for fuel. Its pretty simple: When you reduce carbohydrate intake to a point where your body can no longer rely on carbs as a primary source of energy, it flips a switch and begins accessing the fat stored in your body for energy. This process helps keep insulin levels low and also helps facilitate ketosis, which is the state in which your body being starved for glucosebegins burning stored fat for fuel. This process also produces molecules in the liver called ketones, which are the by-products of the body breaking down these fatty acids.
Most traditional sweets use ingredients like common sugar and wheat flour as primary ingredients. Keto desserts, however, cant contain these ingredients because of the high volume of carbs they contain. This means keto-friendly desserts need to be created a little differently in order to be low carb and sugar free. Keto desserts utilize sweeteners that are sugar free and have a low glycemic index, so words like erythritol and stevia will soon become a part of your kitchen vocabulary. Additionally, keto desserts cant contain wheat flour, and instead, they are made with lower-carb nut flours like almond flour and coconut flour. And because these flours dont contain the essential gluten that binds traditional baked goods, many keto baked goods require the addition of naturally derived binding agents, such as guar gum and xanthan gum, to provide the familiar texture that helps make baked treats so delicious and helps hold them together. Other ingredients, such as full-fat dairy and coconut oil, play a key role in adding richness, texture, and sufficient levels of fat to ensure that the recipes not only are delicious but are compliant with the macro ratios necessary to keep your body in a state of ketosis.
All these changes may make you wonder if its worth the effort, but youll soon discover that keto desserts are not only delicious, but in most cases, they are very similar in taste and texture to their traditional counterparts. And while keto desserts can contain a high number of calories, theyre also low carb and sugar free, so they will still keep your body in a fat-burning state.
