This book presents some sufficient mathematical content with expressive result. The aim of JANO13 is to bring together scientists to discuss their research in all the aspects of mathematics and their applications to different scientific discipline. The main topics of the conference is partial differential equations, mathematical control, numerical analysis and computer science. The conference is interested in recent developments on numerical analysis and real applications in computer science. The latter is viewed as a dynamic branch on the interface of mathematics and informatics that has been growing rapidly over the past several decades. However, its mathematical modelling and interpretation are still not well-explained and need much more clarifications. The main contributions of this book are to give some sufficient mathematical content with expressive results. As a growing field, it is gaining a lot of attention both in media and in the industry world, which will attract the interest of readers from different scientist disciplines.

Abstract

Vehicle routing problems are subject to massive investigations in operations research. We address in this presentation a specific variant of the problem called in the literature vehicle routing problem with flexible time windows (VRPFlexTW), when the solution has to obey several other constraints, such as the consideration of travel, service, and waiting times together with time-window restrictions. An interesting wildly used algorithm is the Adaptive Large Neighbourhood Search (ALNS), we describe the ALNS approach and its different components and we list a computational comparison between the ALNS and the Ant colony optimiser (ACO) on few instances of the VRPFlexTW.

The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) is described as the problem of finding an optimal collection of routes from one or several depots to a predetermined number of scattered locations subject to side constraints enforcing some given importance criteria relative to cost, time, distance or a combination of these quantities. The basic version of the VRP problem is an extension of the Travelling Salesman problem []. At its basic form, a VRP can be viewed as: a fleet of vehicles located at a central depot, that must ensure tours between several customers who have requested a certain merchandise or service. The set of customers visited by a vehicle refers to its tour and each tour starts and ends at the central depot. Each customer must be served once and only once and by one and only one vehicle. The objective of the standard VRP model is to minimize the sum of the distances travelled or the total travel time of vehicle rounds while meeting customer demand.
