About the author
Gordon Rock is the author for hundreds of cookbooks on delicious meals that the 'average Joe' can attempt at home. Including, but definitely not limited to, the Amazon Prime bestseller "Smoking Meat: The Essential Guide to Real Barbecue".
Rock is also known for other well-known titles such as "Making Fresh Pasta", "Hot Sauce", "The Paleo Chocolate Lovers" and "Vegan Tacos", just to name a few.
Rock has been nominated for various awards and has recently been offered a 'Question & Answers' column in Food and Wine Magazine that will give him a greater medium to respond to all the queries readers may have after attempting his recipes. He has also been honored by the Institution of Culinary Excellence for his outstanding recipes.
Gordon Rock grew up in the outskirts of Los Angeles in California, where he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with honors.

Chapter 1 Spicy Appetizers for Special Parties

Recipe 01: Jalapeno Popper
Enjoy this delicious popper with cheddar cheese and serve with your favorite dip. Servings: Total Time: 1 hour Ingredients: Softened Cream cheese: 8 ounces Beaten eggs: 2 Milk: tablespoon Shredded cheddar cheese: 8 ounces Mayonnaise: cup Corn flake (crushed cereal): 1 cups Jalapeno peppers (lengthwise halved and seeded): 15 fresh
Instructions: Preheat your oven to almost 350 F.
Grease one medium baking sheet. Take one medium bowl and mix mayonnaise, cheddar cheese and cream cheese in this bowl. Stuff halves of jalapeno with this blend. Whisk milk and eggs together in one bowl. Put crushed corn flakes in one separate bowl. Dip every stuffed jalapeno into milk and egg mixture and roll in the corn flakes to coat.
Arrange in one layer on your greased baking sheet and bake for almost 30 minutes in your preheated oven. Serve with your favorite sauce.
Recipe 02: Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno
You can grill these proppers with bacon or chicken slices as per your taste. Serve hot. Servings: Total Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: Cream cheese: 4 ounces Jalapeno peppers (lengthwise halved and seeded): 8 fresh Bacon or chicken (cut to make half): 8 slices Toothpicks: 16 Corn Kernels: 6 ounces Cheddar cheese (shredded): 4 ounces Black pepper (ground) and salt: as per taste
Instructions: Preheat your outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly grease your grate. Mix salt, black pepper, corn, cheddar cheese and cream cheese in one bowl.
Fill this mixture in jalapeno halves and wrap every stuffed pepper with chicken/bacon slice. Secure this slice with one toothpick by poking it through the bacon and pepper. Put the poppers on the grill (face down poppers) directly over heat and grill to make bacon brown and crispy. It will take almost five minutes and turn poppers over to grill this side for nearly five minutes again.
Recipe 03: Chicken wings
Start your party with delicious chicken wings and serve them with hot sauce. Servings: Total Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: Soy sauce: cup Butter: cup Soy sauce: 1 teaspoon Italian salad dressing: cup Pepper sauce (hot): cup Chicken wings (cut apart from joints and discard tip of wings): 3 pounds
Instructions: Combine Italian dressing and soy sauce (1/2 cup) in one zip-top bag and add chicken wings in this bag.
Close this bag, shake well and put in your fridge for almost four hours or one night. Preheat one outdoor grill for the medium flame. Take one saucepan and melt butter in this saucepan. Mix in soy sauce (1 teaspoon) and hot sauce. Turn off the flame and keep it aside. Take out chicken wings from marinade, pat dry and cook them on your preheated grill.
Flip occasionally to make chicken equally brown. It may take almost 25 30 minutes. Put grilled chicken wings in a large serving bowl and stir in butter sauce over chicken wings. Toss well and serve hot.
Recipe 04: Buffalo Chicken Wings
You can enjoy these delicious chicken wings with special sauce. These are restaurant style wings.
Servings: Total Time: 2 hours Ingredients: All-purpose flour: cup Deep frying oil: As per your need Butter: cup Paprika: teaspoon Hot sauce: cup Cayenne pepper: teaspoon Black pepper (ground): 1 dash Salt: teaspoon Garlic powder: 1 dash Chicken wings: 10
Instructions: Mix salt, cayenne pepper, paprika and flour in one small bowl. Put chicken wings in one large glass dish (nonporous) and sprinkle flour mixture over chicken wings. Mix them well to coat all wings and cover this bowl. Put it in your fridge for almost 90 minutes. Heat oil in one skillet or deep fryer to almost 375 F. Make sure to add enough oil to cover all chicken wings.
