- Sugar makes you tired. Although it gives us a short energy kick at first, it goes steeply downhill later. That means listlessness, lack of energy, even the mood suffers, it is difficult to cope with the day.
- Can sugar be addictive? Sugar gives you a cozy feeling for brief moments, you want more of it and you can't keep your fingers off the opened chocolate, arguments are no longer helpful.
As you can see, sugar affects our body, our mood, our health. In the short term it makes you happy and in the long term, it can cause immense damage.

How To Cut Out Sugar from Your Diet
If you are ready to cut out sugar from your diet, there are a few steps that you should follow to help yourself do so. These arent necessarily difficult to do, but many people find that it is hard to stick to it. They get caught up in the cravings, or they give into the withdrawals that they feel when they do cut them out. Your body gets used to those higher levels of sugar in your diet and comes to rely on them; when you cut them out, you are likely to run into some symptoms as your body has to develop and adjust to its new normal.
Cutting sugar by tossing out added sugar sources the first step to making sure that you can eliminate sugar is to take the time to genuinely cut it out in the first place. If you have added sugar options in your home, such as white and brown sugars, or also eliminating the honey. If you are going to make yourself coffee or tea, you want to make sure that you arent adding these. At first, make sure that you do so gradually. You want to start out by cutting the amounts of sugar in half and slowly weaning down over the period of a couple of weeks. This is what is best for you.
Cut out liquid sugars
All too often, people drink sugars that they dont even realize. Soda is one of the main sources of sugar that we get. Additionally, you can see that adding honey or sugar to coffees and teas is another common source, as is drinking juice. None of these are very healthy options; you need to make sure that you are cutting out those sugars over time. Coffee and tea are fine, so long as you are mindful of the sugars that you put into them.
Choose fresh fruits
If you like something sweet, go for fruit, but still, be mindful. Fresh fruit is usually the best for you, but you can also go for unsweetened frozen fruit or even canned fruit if it is in water or natural juices. Make sure that you avoid the fruit that is canned in heavy syrups; this is a common source of sugars that people dont realize that they are using. You can also use fruit as a natural sweetener. If you are going to use a sweetener of some sort for yogurt, cereals, or oatmeal, this is a great option for you. Fruit is a great option to flavor your teas or water as well if you are someone thats used to sweetened and flavored drinks.
Always compare food labels
When you look at your food labels, make sure that you choose those that have the lowest amounts of added sugars. Many foods are naturally going to have carbohydrates in themand thats okay in moderation. You must make sure that you are cutting out those high added sugar foods to keep yourself healthy. This means that if you have a food with 22 grams of sugar and 18 are added, and you can also choose a food that has 25 grams of sugar with just 4 or 5 added the second food is going to be the healthier choice because it doesnt involve adding any natural sugars.
