Chapter 1: Crock Pot Basics
What is Crock-Pot?

When talking about Crock Pots, we are actually talking about Slow Cookers.

Crock Pot is essentially a very well renowned brand that produces what are quite possibly the best Slow Cookers available in the market! However, for the sake simplicity, throughout this book, I will be referring to Slow Cookers by simply calling them Crock-Pots.

That being said, let me first clarify what Slow Cookers actually are.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, Slow Cookers/Crock Pots are countertop kitchen appliances that are designed to cook food at extremely low temperatures.

This allows the appliances to facilitate hours of unattended cooking while producing an extremely delicious and hearty meal.

Despite common belief though, Slow Cookers are extremely versatile in nature and you can create almost anything using the Slow Cooker, ranging from roasts, dips, stews, desserts to meats of all kinds!

Looking at the basic components of the Slow Cooker, you will notice that the cooker consists of an oval-shaped cooking pot that is mostly made out of very high quality glazed ceramic or porcelain.

This is the housing where all the internal circuitry is being held.

A glass lid is also provided with the Cooker that allows the cooker to be closed properly by sitting in the grooves around the edges of the pot.

The condensed vapor that is produced inside the pot allows the device to create a very low yet effective pressure seal that helps the lid to stay firmly in place.

However, it should be noted that Slow Cookers are considerably safer to use when compared to other Pressure Cookers such, mainly because Slow Cookers tend to cook on a very low pressure as opposed to the high pressure utilized by pressure cookers.

Cooking with Crock Pot

At its heart, the main Slow Cooking process will only require to prepare your ingredients, toss them into the Slow Cooker and cover with the provided glass lid. Once you have set the timer and heat level, you are good to go! Just leave the cooker and let it work its magic.
