- Use new mason jars with lids. Wash and dry the jars carefully before assembling the gifts.
- Set up an assembly line. Select a few gifts to make that you can use for many recipients. It is easy to make a number of the same gift at the same time. Assemble all the materials you need for the gift. Decide on the order that the materials will be put in the jar so that all of the gifts look the same.
- Assign jobs to everyone who is helping. Have some people add contents to the jar, make labels or tie ribbons around the lid. Even the youngest child can handle some of the work.

Materials:
- A quart sized mason jar.
- Individual packets of intensive hair conditioner and face masks
- A packet of bubble bath or bath oils
- Nail clippers and files
- A scented candle
- Aromatherapy spray or oils
- Travel size tubes of lotions or creams
- Sample size tubes of perfume or cologne
- Colorful tissue paper or other fillers to cushion the contents
Directions:
- Crumple some tissue paper and put it in the bottom of the jar.
- Add the large items to the jar first.
- Add the small items around the jar.
- Fill in any open spaces with more paper.
- Tape items together if necessary to make them stand up in the jar.
- Add a label, ribbon and gift tag.
Lantern Mason Jar
T hese mason jar lanterns make wonderful gifts for anyone on your list. I make several of them to keep for my own use. They make great decorations through the holiday season and all winter long.
Materials:
- 1 pint mason jars
- White liquid school glue
- Kosher or sea salt
- White votive candles
- Heavy wire to make the handle
- Materials to make a gift tag
Directions:
- Smear some school glue around the bottom of the outside of the jar. Randomly put some glue up the sides.
- Pour the kosher or sea salt on a paper plate.
- Roll the jar in the salt until the bottom is coated.
- Let dry for about 1 day.
- Shake off excess salt.
- Put a large dab of glue on the inside bottom of the jar.
- Set the votive candle on the glue and let it dry.
- Bend the wire around the rim of the jar to form a tight loop.
- Take another piece of wire and create a handle. Fasten each end of the loop handle to the wire around the rim to create a decorative and usable handle.
- Add ribbon and a gift tag if desired.
