Breakfast

Biscuits and Gravy 6 servings These are perfect for a Sunday morning - photo 3

Biscuits and Gravy

6 servings

These are perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast. This recipe is SO easy and truly (in my opinion) makes the BEST sausage and gravy biscuits.

Ingredients:

- 1 lb ground breakfast sausage

- 2 cups milk

- 2 tbsp flour

- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Mary Bs biscuits

Directions:

  1. Brown the breakfast sausage in a medium skillet over medium heat. Make sure its broken up into small pieces. Use a slotted spoon to remove the browned sausage and place it on a paper towel lined plate.
  2. Drain the sausage drippings and reserve 2 tbsp. Set aside.
  3. Heat 2 cups of milk in a small saucepan or in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl.
  4. Add the tbsp of reserved sausage drippings to the same skillet you cooked the sausage in and heat it on medium heat. Once hot, whisk in 2 tbsp of flour and stir until browned.
  5. Gradually pour the heated milk into the skillet and whisk. Stir until it thickens.
  6. Return the sausage to the skillet.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, if desired, and stir everything together.
  8. Serve over Mary Bs biscuits.
Powdered Sugar Donuts

6 servings

OK donuts made from canned biscuits arent the most gourmet thing but they really are such a nice treat to have every now and then. This is such a good recipe that kids can help with. I always loved helping my mom make these. I thought it was so fun shaking up that bag!

Ingredients:

- 1 can of refrigerated biscuits

- Oil

- Powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Place about an inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Roll out the biscuits and lay them out on a large sheet of parchment paper. Using a rolling pin, roll each biscuit out into a large flat circle. Using a bottle cap, cut a hole into the center of each biscuit.
  3. Place about 2 cups of powdered sugar in a large zip lock bag.
  4. Once the oil is hot, drop the donuts into the skillet, about 4 at a time. Cook on each side for about 2 minutes, or until browned. When cooked completely, remove and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  5. When all of the donuts and holes are cooked, place them in batches into the powdered sugar, seal the top, and shake. Remove then serve.
Maw Maws Blueberry Muffins

Makes 12 muffins

There are too many things I could say about these muffins. My grandmother was a prize winning cook and loved cooking for her family. My sisters and I spent a lot of days with her during summer break when we were kids and I always looked forward to days that she made these blueberry muffins. They were my absolute favorite and she knew it! I could smell them before we even go inside her house. Eating those muffins with my sisters and our Maw Maw is still one of my favorite memories.

Ingredients:

- 2 cups Bisquick

- 2/3 cup sugar

- 2/3 cup milk

- 2 tbsp vegetable oil

- 1 egg

- 1 cup blueberries

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Mix together the Bisquick, sugar, milk, oil, and egg until just combined.
  3. Gently stir in the blueberries.
  4. Pour the batter into a lined muffin pan and fill each liner about 2/3 full.
  5. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Caseys Couscous & Eggs

6 servings

The first time I had this, my sister-in-law Casey made it for us for breakfast and we were amazed! This is now one of my own familys favorite breakfasts that we have multiple times a week. Anytime we have a guest overnight, I make this for breakfast and it is always a hit.

Ingredients:

- 1 5.9-oz box of Near East parmesan couscous

- 1 tbsp olive oil

- 1 1/4 cup water

- 6 eggs

Directions:

  1. Crack 6 eggs into a muffin tin and bake at 375 degrees F for 15-18 minutes.
  2. While the eggs are baking, pour the water, olive oil, and seasoning packet from the couscous package into a small saucepan and heat over medium high heat.
  3. Once the water is boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and pour in the couscous. Stir and cover for 5 minutes.
  4. When the eggs are ready, fluff the couscous with a spoon and serve the eggs over the couscous.
Hannies Avocado Egg Toast

1 serving

This is my husbands favorite breakfast and he even loves it as a pre-run snack. It is simple to make and it is super healthy!
