To magically minded fans around the world
Introduction
Whether youve grown up with these books or have just started reading them for the first time, something about the magic of Hogwarts has captured your heart, as it has millions of fans worldwide. No matter if youre a cunning serpent, a courageous lion, a wise eagle, or a loyal badger, its true for everyone that coming back to these stories feels like coming home.
Throughout these adventures, our favorite characters faced struggles, heartbreak, danger, and many magical mishaps. Its the moments when they matured as people, grew together as friends, and learned much more than just witchcraft and wizardry that we hold close to our hearts and look back upon fondly when we recall those beloved pages.
So where does cooking come in? Since some of the most iconic moments happened around mealtimes and holidays at the castle, it makes sense to reconnect with your favorite wizarding world by re-creating the dishes from those moments in your own kitchen.
This cookbook is organized by season, and then by holiday feast. It will cover all of the most important holidays celebrated at the castle (and over the summer break), from pumpkin treats in the fall to heart-shaped sweets in the spring. And in accordance with Hogwarts tradition, these feasts will feature largely English fare, comfort-food staples, and, of course, decadent desserts. For the fussier dishes, youll find that the recipes have been pared down to make the final product easier to achieve if you dont have the help of a wand or self-stirring cauldron. That being said, the dishes youll make with the help of this cookbook will certainly taste as fantastical as the ones from your favorite books. We hope you will come back to The Unofficial Hogwarts for the Holidays Cookbookfor every season! Enjoy!
Fall Recipes
Nothing quite compares to the wonders of autumn: A chill in the air. Shorter days and longer nights. The smell of leaves and mist. A landscape painted in orange, red, and yellow. While for some non-magical folk this means mourning the loss of summer and dreading the start of another school year, young witches and wizards are eager for another year of classes at the castle. New adventures await. And though there will be homework, long lectures, and exams, new friends, new accomplishments, and, of course, feasts are also in store!
