Like all combat-oriented battle royale games, Fortnite: Battle Royale forces gamers to simultaneously and successfully juggle a wide range of responsibilities. Youll need to fight, avoid the deadly storm, build structures, manage and use your arsenal, and safely explore your surroundings during every match you participate in.

As you explore the mysterious island, youll encounter different climates within the various types of terrain. For example, you may find yourself traveling through snow-covered mountains and over ice-covered lakes, making your way through a network of lava flows, or confronting enemies in a lush forest or urban setting thats filled with paved roads and tall buildings.

Each type of climate or terrain will force you to contend with a different set of challenges, in addition to the deadly storm and whatever mayhem enemy soldiers try to bestow upon you. Knowing as much as possible about the island and how to use the various types of terrain to your tactical and defensive advantage will be a huge advantage to you.

If your soldier is walking or running over an ice-covered lake, for example, their feet will quickly freeze, and theyll begin sliding rather quickly across flat terrain. Youll have less precise control over your soldiers movements, but theyll travel faster by sliding around.

While ice-covered terrain can be used to your advantage, lava-covered terrain can be deadly. For every second your soldier touches the boiling lava, some of their Health will be depleted. Too much exposure to lava can be deadly.

During each gaming season, different climate and terrain types are introduced onto the island, so its important to know what to expect, based on where on the island you find yourself at any given moment.

Each time a match begins, your primary goal is to control your soldier and help him (or her) become the last person alive on the island to achieve #1 Victory Royale . This applies regardless of which game play mode youre experiencing.

What makes this ultimate objective a bit tricky is that in addition to the game controlling some of the challenges youll continuously encounter (such as the deadly storm), during each Solo, Duos, or Squads match youll also need to contend with up to 99 other gamersin real timeeach of whom want to survive and achieve victory just as much as you.

Some of your adversaries will be newbs and pose little threat. Others, however, will have already invested countless hours into perfecting their Fortnite: Battle Royale gaming skills. These gamers will have already honed their muscle memory related to the game, perfectly tweaked their games settings (based on the equipment theyre using, their game play style, and their experience level), and are already familiar with the islands diverse terrain. Its these gamers who pose the biggest threat to your soldiers survival.
