Almost all of the action in Fortnite: Battle Royale takes place on a mysterious island. The island itself is divided into more than 20 unique points of interest. At the start of each match, you find yourself in the pre-deployment area with many other soldiers. This is where you wait for other players to join the match before it begins.

You and 99 other soldiers are then forced to climb aboard a Battle Bus (a blue bus that flies) to be transported to the island.

Once the bus begins to fly over the island (shown on the ), jump out at any time to free fall toward land. You choose when to leap off the bus and where your landing spot will be. As youre in free fall, control the direction your soldier travels. This allows you to traverse more than half the island, if necessary, while in midair.

Each soldier who leaps off the Battle Bus is equipped with a Glider. Once activated, the glider slows your rate of descent and gives you additional navigational control, so you can choose a precise landing spot on the island. During free fall, activate the Glider at any time. However, if you wait too long, the glider activates itself as you get close to land.
