How to Crush a Goal
Principle 1: Perceive It
Wrap your head around it. Focusing your attention on the here and now and telling yourself what you want to have tomorrow is the first step in crushing your goals. What do you want and just how badly do you want it? Perceiveit! Every thought is a vibration on the edge of becoming reality, and your perception of yourself and your goals will become a result of those thoughts. If you think you cant achieve it, then you wont; however, if you believe that you can achieve it then you will nailit! With a little grit and perseverance, you will turn your thoughts into reality. Be brave and visualize good, strong, bold, and positive thoughts. Close your eyes and silence your mind. Begin to imagine the desired version of the person you want to become and why you want this change to happen for you. Focus on that image and the feeling of sweet success and dismiss any part of you that is sending out negative energy and feelings of self-doubt. Increase your chances of success and bring your thoughts to life by literally laying it out on the table with the following call-to-action exercise.
Write down the top five things that you would like to change about your body, yourself, and your life.
Create a Focus Board
I know you may think that this is clich or even corny, but Im going to tell you that a focus board is a magnificent magnet for drawing your goals to the surface, where they can take shape and come to life. A focus board will be in your face every day, and it will serve as a constant reminder of the promise you have made to yourself. A focus board will be like a bulls-eye that will keep you on point and zeroed in on your target. Lets get you started on the first step toward crushing your goal by making your focus board today!
How to Make a Focus Board
- Get a poster board, some magazines, a pair of scissors, and some glue and tape.
- Carve out some quality time for yourself. Settle into a personal, quiet space and prepare to design a new you.
- Peruse the magazines and find photos of physiques that you admire and want to emulate. Cut out big, bold, motivational words and phrases that inspire you. Keep in mind the top five things that you would like to change about your body, yourself, and your life while looking through the magazines. Next, cut out the photos and words that speak to you and lay them out all over your big open space. Be lofty in your approach and choose every photo and word that appeals to you. The sky is the limit when creating a focus board, so theres no reason to be stingy or hold back. You have the power to create anything your heart and mind desire, so go for it!
- Tape or glue your photos, words, and phrases to your poster board. There is no right or wrong way to create a focus board. Think of it as a giant collage of your dreams and desires. Have fun, get creative, and put a ton of love and positive thought into making your board, because after all, this is your future self that you are designing!
- Once you have completed your focus board, put it in plain sight and in a location that you will see several times a day.
Principle 2: Conceive It
A goal is just a dream without a specific plan of action to make it real. Now that you have a solid visualization of what it is that you want to achieve, its time to give it life by devising an action plan to get the job done. It isnt going to come to life without some good old-fashioned nurturing on your part. Like a child or a flower, the visualization that you have in your mind of what you want to achieve will need lots of love, attention, and care if it is going to survive, blossom, and flourish.
Now lets get down to the specifics of your vision. What is it that you want and when do you want it by? Have you always wanted lean and tight legs? Do you admire ripped and shredded abdominals on other people and now you want that six-pack for yourself? Do you think that sculpted shoulders would look sexy on your body? Maybe you have a solid desire to lose ten, twenty, or thirty pounds or maybe even more? Upcoming events such as class reunions, vacations, and weddings are all great opportunities for a little goal-crushing action. Being specific with details and adding an end date to accomplish your goal will give it the power of attainability. Increase your chances of success with a few simple steps that you can put into action today!
- Write down your exact goal and give it a deadline. I love using journals myself, because I like to write down as many details as possible as I am making my way to crushing a goal. Writing it in a notebook or on a note card could work just as well if you want to keep your details short and sweet.
- Put it out into the universe. Share your goal with your family and friends. In doing so youll create an inner circle of ongoing support. If you are on social media, announce your goal to your fan base and followers and post updates of your journey along the way. Sharing your goal immediately increases its power of attainability.
- If you are the kind of person who needs accountability because you procrastinate or get off track easily, finding a workout buddy or training partner could prove to be invaluable. Finding a qualified professional such as a fitness coach to guide you through the goal-crushing process and periodically reassess your progress could also prove to be highly advantageous.
In the space below, write out your goal(s). What exactly do you want to achieve and when do you want to achieve it by? Give credence to your goal with specifics. For example, you might say, I want to redefine my legs, create definition in my quadriceps, and form a high, tight booty. I want to accomplish this goal by _________ [put your end date in this space].

Principle 3: Believe It
You will absolutely become what you believe you will become, so dont doubt that you can turn your dreams into reality. Self-doubt and self-pity are self-defeating and are surefire roadblocks to getting what you want, so dont even go there in your mind. Be confident and know your self-worth, as you are invaluable, and never settle for less than what you desire. Self-esteem is the golden wand that will magically turn you into the person you were meant to be. Believing in your goal and seeing it through to the end is the ultimate in self-care. Care enough about yourself to become the person you set out to be.
