Remodel My House: How To Do It Right
Understanding The Process Of Remodeling
Dwight Chung
About The Author
Dwight Chung was interested in what went into fixing up a home from an early age. He was not just interested in how persons could buy a few things to revamp the look of the property but was also interested in the entire remodeling process. To him it was all pretty simple (in his mind) for as far as he knew, once you have the money to do it, you could just go ahead and get it done.
Suffice it to say that when he got older and had his own home to remodel, he learned that the process involved quite a bit more than that to get things done. From the experience that he had and the challenges that he faced, he made the decision to help others to get through that whole process without undue stress.

Chapter 1 How Do You Know It Is Time To Remodel the Home
Remodeling a home is a big job. How does someone know with certainty that the time is right to take the plunge and remodel their dwelling? There are a few signs that homeowners should keep their eyes peeled to spot. These signs are easily discernible indicators that a remodeling may be in order.
One of the most notable indicators that a remodeling may be in order is if the appliances are breaking or just totally out of date. The rate at which technology advances makes it easy for a person to get stuck using obsolete equipment. A quick trip to the store will illuminate just how important it may be to purchase and install new appliances and technology through the house. Washers, dryers and other equipment are always adding new features and capabilities that make the life of the user easier.
These features include everything from updated displays to more effective functionality. At the very least, these new machines will make the place look a little more current and brighten things up a little bit. Appliances are very important for the overall functioning of the household; if appliances no longer work the way that they should, something done about that. A change is always welcome, and changing the appliances is the best way to start remodeling the house. The new machinery may inspire one to change the rest of the surroundings in order to match everything better.
A second sign that means a remodeling may be in the cards is that the cabinets in the kitchen are faded and have lost their luster. Cabinets do not stay nice forever. Everything ages and wears down after a while. When this happens, it is necessary to replace the cabinets with newer ones. Replacing the cabinets can change the entire look of the kitchen.
Maybe a different style or color is in order to keep up with the style of the times or to provide a change. If the style or colors of the cabinets change drastically, there is a good chance that the rest of the elements in the kitchen or even throughout the house will need to be changed out as well. A homeowner should be concerned with how the elements of a room tie together with one another. They do not want certain elements to clash with one another. That would be a total disaster.
Another sign that it may be time to remodel the house is that the occupants no longer feel completely at ease when they are dwelling within the walls of their home. For instance, a woman spends most of her time in the kitchen. If she starts feeling uneasy feelings every time she enters the kitchen, remodeling is in order. Women can get really stressed out by kitchens that are in serious need of remodeling. They see the outdated appliances that are painful to clean or hard to use and just get blinding headaches from thinking about even using these outdated things.
The drab appearance of old worn down cabinets can be depressing. Many times, kitchens will simply become too small. Many of them don't start out too big. When new appliances and other things are added over the years, the kitchen can quickly shrink and become awkward and crowded. A remodeling may be in order to make it possible to people to use the kitchen again. Knocking out walls or adding more cabinet space can drastically increase the usable space that is available in an average kitchen.
Another sign of remodeling necessity is shame over inviting guests over to the house. If a person feels embarrassed when he has people home over for a visit, a remodeling is definitely in the future. Homes can get very claustrophobic when people decide to quit hosting guests. That is the first step to becoming reclusive and antisocial. It is very important that people are able to invite guests into their homes. However, it can be very easy to let things slide. Most people are very tired from work or other activities when they arrive at the house. They lie down and get comfortable watching television and things build up. The carpet gets dirtier and dirtier. The cabinets fade. The appliances break. Everything slowly deteriorates until they are ashamed to invite people to hang out in their domiciles. A normal person needs to be capable of showing off his house. He should be proud of the way it looks.
