I suppose youve surmised by now that my name is Christopher Dufresne. I am a psychic, and my mother is the famous clairvoyant Sylvia Browne. My hope is that you truly enjoy reading all that I have to tell youand that you can flow with the informal stream-of-consciousness style that this book is written in. Sometimes Ill mix a little bit of this with a little bit of thatbut all in all, I think youll find my familys story quite entertaining!

Beginnings

My mother and I come from a long line of psychics. For some reason, in a psychic family the gift of clairvoyance is usually relegated to the females. But my great-uncle, Paul Coil, was a psychic; and my great-great-uncle, Henry Kaufholz, was also a spiritualist and psychic. My predecessors tended to keep a low profileuntil my mother came along. Shes a breed apart, personifying psychic ability in the public eye. Good for her, I say, but thats not my style. When I was younger, I appeared on Evening Magazine, Pacific Currents, Super Kids, Bay City Limits, and People Are Talking. I had a small part in Unsolved Mysteries, and Ive also appeared on two episodes of The Montel Williams Show. However, my preference is to remain in the background.

I am 33. I have a beautiful wife, Gina; a psychic six-year-old daughter, Angelia (who inherited the love of the spotlight from her grandmother), and a precious baby boy, William. Despite all of this esoteria whizzing around, I think of us as a normal family. Lets face it, if its all youve known and grown up with, your definition of normal can get a bit blurred.

My earliest recollection of being different is when I was around three years old, which seems to be the optimum age for an inherent psychic gift to start showing up. I began to have very clear visions of what I now know was a life before this one. I told my mother in great detail about living a life in the Old West. I vividly remembered being shot outside a saloon, with my horse, Cinder, standing close beside me. As I lay in the dirt, my daughter ran out and held my head in her lap while my soul went out of my body and into the tunnel. My mother listened very attentively and asked questions at the appropriate times, without ever coaching me or leading me on. She said later that it wasnt just the specifics that impressed her, but the fact that I talked about a daughternot a concept a three-year-old boy is likely to concoct.

Like my mother, I knew at a very young age who was sicksometimes before they even knew it themselvesand I could tell who was at the door or on the phone before anyone had answered. I gave my friends a lot of advice, disguising it as opinions as best I could without tipping them off that I was really giving them psychic insights.
