Introduction

A dog breed known for its adorable looks and sweet personality, the Cavapoo is quickly gaining in popularity worldwide. The Cavapoo is what is known as a designer dog, a term which is used interchangeably with hybrid, cross-breed, or mixed breed. The Cavapoo carries both the Poodle and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in its pedigree. Most typically, the Miniature Poodle is the preferred size Poodle for breeding, resulting in puppies who will eventually weigh between 12-25 lbs (6.8kg 11.3kg). The Cavapoo is ideally the perfect combination of the two breeds which comprise its parentage, and who are both known for their affectionate, charming natures. The breed is hallmarked by its friendly personality. A loving breed, Cavapoos bond deeply with their families and thrive in a home with children. The Cavapoo is known to be a dog breed of medium size, making them the ideal lap dog. A true mixed breed, the Cavapoos coat comes in many different color combinations and textures.

The Cavapoo is a dog that is always up for an adventure. Wherever its family goes, this pooch will be only too happy to tag along. If there is some playtime involved, thats all the better. A dog of moderate activity requirements, a Cavapoo does not need to be worn out. A daily walk of average length will do. The Cavapoo is a dog breed that loves to please its people, making it a pleasure to train.

Since the Cavapoo is a cross-breed, it is currently not a breed that is recognized by any kennel club. A dog who excels as a family companion, the Cavapoos sole purpose is to love their families and bring them joy.

The Cavapoos coat is considered by some to be hypoallergenic; however, there is no scientific proof to support this claim. Many Cavapoos, who most closely resemble the Poodle portion of their pedigree, will bear lower shedding properties than other puppies who favor the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel genes. Dogs who shed less frequently have been credited with a reduced immune response in allergy sufferers.

The Cavapoo is a loving, affectionate dog who thrives in a family with children.

A breed who many different countries lay claim to including the United States and Australia, this happy-go-lucky dog is known as a breed of exuberant spirit. The Cavapoos playful, intelligent nature makes him a pleasure to live with and to train. The Cavapoo is sometimes referred to as a Cavoodle, a name which also reflects its parentage as being a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Since this breed is a cross-breed and is relatively new in its origins, there is no consistent set of traits that definitively identify the breed at present. Many love the Cavapoo for specifically this reason.

At this time, the Cavapoo does not have a lengthy breed history. However, it is believed that the Cavapoo was created out of a desire to create a loyal, happy family dog with low-shedding properties. The Cavapoo is a breed that benefits from early socialization to allow the dog to acclimate easily to new environments.

A hardy breed, the Cavapoo typically lives from 10-13 years with excellent quality of life and few health problems. Among the health conditions which can befall Cavapoos are the following: mitral valve disease (heart problems), hip dysplasia, and luxating patellas.
