Barbecue encompasses so many different things, and there are hundreds of different recipes out there. The recipes in this book are just a few of my favourite recipes and recipes that were a hit with my friends and family.

Classic Barbecue Sauce
Nothing beats a classic, tangy yet slightly spicy barbecue sauce. This sauce is easy to make and goes well with anything.
Serving: 2 cups
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of white vinegar
- 1 cup of cider vinegar
- 1 cups of ketchup
- cup of molasses
- 5 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce
- teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- teaspoon of salt
- teaspoon of pepper
Instructions:
- Combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Once ingredients are dissolved and well combines, reduce to low heat to simmer.
- Simmer uncovered for 10 15 minutes or until consistency is thick.
Cherry Barbecue Sauce
This sauce is great on any meat, especially on ribs and chicken. It is the perfect option if you want a sweet sauce. Fresh or frozen pitted cherries can be used for this sauce.
Serving: 3 cups
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 large onion
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 cup of dark sweet cherries, coarsely chopped
- cup ketchup
- cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- teaspoon pepper
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat and saut onion and garlic.
- Stir in ketchup, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and salt. Cook for 2 minutes and add cherries.
- Bring to a boil and reduce to low heat. Simmer until sauce reaches desired consistency.
- Allow to cool and strain through a fine mesh. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce
If youre like me, homemade barbecue sauce is always the way to go. Making a sauce from scratch is much better than store bought sauce and this sauce is delicious plus it coats meat well.
Serving size: 3 cups
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons of canola oil
- 2 cups of ketchup
- cup of Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar
- cup of molasses or brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of chili powder
- teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- teaspoon of paprika
- 1 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce
- teaspoon of black pepper
- teaspoon of salt
Ingredients:
- Heat canola oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and saut onion and garlic.
- Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, vinegar, pepper sauce, chilli powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, black pepper and salt.
- Bring to a boil and reduce to low heat. Simmer until the sauce has reached desired consistency.
- Allow to cool and strain through a fine mesh. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
Classic BBQ Chicken
These BBQ chicken pieces can be made right in your kitchen on your stove top grill or outside on a covered grill. It features a delicious homemade sauce that crisps up into an amazing glaze. The meat is tender and juicy! Double or triple this recipe depending on the size of your gathering.
Serving:
Cooking time: 1 hr 10 mins
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of chicken pieces, washed, excess fat and skin removed
- cup of ketchup
- 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- 3 tablespoons of chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- teaspoon of salt
- teaspoon of black pepper
Instructions:
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Once it no longer bubbles, saut garlic until tender.
- Add remaining ingredients to the pan, (Except chicken) and bring to a boil, stir until combined.
- Remove from heat once mixture thickens a bit.
- Grease grill lightly and grill chicken covered for 15 minutes each side. Baste with sauce and grill for 15 30 more minutes turning several times, until chicken is done and the glaze is to your desired thickness.
Dry Rubbed Ribs
Try something new, something thats not the barbecue sauce version. These dry rubbed ribs have a delicious garlic and ginger flavour, the meat is well seasoned, and the homemade sauce is delicious.

Cooking time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3 pounds of pork baby back ribs
Rub:
- 1 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoons of ground cumin
