Chapter 1: Appetizers
1. Drink wine and know things
Do not even think of starting the party without some wine! A favorite drink between Cersei and Tyrion, wine plays an important role throughout the series. The two are often seen gulping down fine wine and hatching plots to take over the throne! Here is a simple, spicy wine sangria recipe to get you started.
Serving size: Cooking time: 10 minutes Ingredients:
- A bottle of good red wine
- Sugar to taste
- watermelon
- 1 lemon
- 1 grapefruit
Instructions: Add the wine to a pitcher. Cut the lemons into thin slices and add them to the wine. Use a muddler or spoon to lightly muddle them. Use a baller to scoop out balls from the melon and add to the wine. Cut open the grapefruit and squeeze the contents to the pitcher. Serve chilled!
This soup is just as mysterious as Gendrys whereabouts throughout the series. He appears and disappears randomly but is always there when Arya needs him. This soup will come to your rescue on the coldest nights and keep you warm! Serving size: Cooking time: 20 minutes Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef, chopped into chunks
- 4 cups broth, beef or chicken
- cup barley pearls
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 small onions, chopped
- 1 large potato, chopped
- 2 tablespoons garlic, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup white wine
- 2 spice leaves
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions: Add the butter to a huge saucepan and slightly brown the beef chunks. Remove and set aside. Add the garlic and brown for 3 minutes. Toss in the chopped vegetables and saut till brown.
Add in the beef and mix well. Pour in the wine and allow it to evaporate. Pour the stock and mix well. Add salt and pepper and bay leaves. Cover and leave for an hour or until the meat is tender.
Queen Cersei deserved nothing less than the best! And although some of you might disagree with that statement, you will surely agree to the fact that you deserve nothing but the best! So, here is a salad fit for a queen and an ideal recipe to detox your body. Serving size: Cooking time: 15 minutes Ingredients:
- 1 cup mixed salad leaves (kale, lettuce, rocket)
- 1 green apple, thinly sliced
- 1 mango, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons almonds, chopped
- 3 tablespoons raisins
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- Juice from lemon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Pepper to taste
Instructions: Mix olive oil, lemon, vinegar and pepper in a small bowl. Add the leaves to a bowl and arrange the apple and mango on top. Sprinkle the almonds and raisins. Drizzle the oil dressing on top and serve.

Aryas Oysters, Clams and Cockles
A girl has a name and its Arya! Arya is seen peddling a cart filled with oysters, clams and cockles while training under Jaqen Hghar. Present your guests this delicious seafood spread, as it makes for the perfect drinks party appetizers! Serving size: Cooking time: 10 minutes Ingredients:
- 1 cup oysters
- 1 cup cockles (mussels are fine)
- 1 cup clams
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- tablespoon garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- tablespoon pepper flakes
- tablespoon ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon marjoram
- 2 cups stock or water
- Salt to taste
Instructions: Add the vinegar, garlic, marjoram, pepper flakes, ground pepper, salt and onion to a bowl and mix. Set aside for an hour. Clean the seafood thoroughly under running water. Add the stock or water to a pan and bring to a gently simmer. Add the seafood and cook for 5 minutes or until the shells open.
