Dedication
This book is dedicated to my husband, Gerald Updyke, for his support and loving encouragement throughout the entire writing process and to my sweet boys, Oscar and Calvin, who completed my life the moment I laid eyes on them. Dream big, boys. Anything is possible.
Authors Acknowledgments
I would like to thank my friends and family, both online and offline, who have supported me with notes of encouragement, texts, questions, and cheers as I reached each deadline. Knowing I had a team of support behind me kept me moving forward and excited to see this project through to its completion. Thank you to my editors on the For Dummies team, who so patiently guided me and answered my questions, and to Starbucks for being my home away from home on marathon writing days. Finally, I want to thank my amazing mom, Doreen Lawrence, for sacrificing so many of her days to watch my boys so that I could write. To both of my parents, thank you for believing in me and for always cheering the loudest.

I f youre a regular Internet user, chances are you participate in one or more social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. Perhaps you use these sites for business or for recreation or a mixture of both. Whatever your intention, the fact is, everything you say is an extension of you and/or your brand, and the influence you build can either help or hinder your online reputation.
Have you ever wondered if the words you put out into the universe via the Internet are influencing anyone? The creators of Klout.com believe they are, and not just that they believe theyve developed a tool that can measure that influence and provide you with insights that may help you increase the power of your online voice. If youre looking to maximize the effects of your online influence, Klout For Dummies is a valuable tool to help you accomplish your goals.
Klout is a measurement tool for social media influence. But its more than an analytics program. In fact, I like to think of it as supplemental to traditional measures of analytics because Klout doesnt simply measure traffic, but actual engagement from individuals you interact with across your various social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
