Thank You
PaleOMG Readers I would not be writing a cookbook if it werent for all of you. Thank you for eating paleo, for loving food as much as I do, and for inspiring me to create a cookbook to share with even more food lovers.
Mom and Dad Thank you for every single thing you have done for me. You have no idea what your support has done for me. I know I sometimes suck as a daughter, but I at least hope to make you proud with this cookbook.
Laura Hazlett Thank you for trying all my recipes, giving me feedback, and supporting me, even when I stayed in on Friday and Saturday nights to blog. Youre the best friend a person could ask for.
Sergio Nazarro Thank you for helping me stay true to myself and being proud of me no matter what. Sometimes I need reminding that Im an only child.
Jason and Jake and everyone at CrossFit Broadway You are my second home and my second family. Thank you for supporting me from the very starteven if you do secretly hate my blog. Okay, not so secretly whatsoever.
Ian Wittenber Youre amazing. If it werent for you, I wouldnt have this awesome cookbook cover. Its hard work to make me look decent on film, so I appreciate your time and patience throughout our photo shoot.
Jon Moffitt Thank you for introducing me to CrossFit, starting paleo with me, and spending many late nights in the bulk aisle at Whole Foods with me. Sampling. Mostly things covered in chocolate.
Tom Ashby and Renegade Fitness Thank you for believing in me and helping me grow my brand with my videos and apparel. Youre awesome, Tom.
Kevin Montoya Thank you for helping me start my CrossFit and paleo journey. Every opportunity you have given me has led me to where I am now.
Peter Schmalfeldt Thank you for creating the website I have today and helping me share my recipes all over the world. All of this would not be possible without your creative eye, amazing design, and crazyintelligent brain.
Jennifer Baum, my publisher If it werent for you, this new chapter in my life would not be happening. This book is because of you and I cant show you my appreciation enough.
CrossFit Evolve You were my first CrossFit home. Thank you for posting my recipes on your website and sharing them with your friends and family.
Everyone at Again Faster Thank you for believing in me. Your support in my writing, my cooking abilities, and my competitions has helped me build more confidence than I knew I had.
Rj Smith Thank you for letting me use your kitchen so many times for cooking videos AND the cookbook photo shoot. If you didnt have the nicest kitchen of all my friends, I would have had to film in an elementary school kitchen, and you know how much I like kids.
Jameson and Tonys Market Thank you for the donation of seafood. Without your shrimp and scallops, my seafood lovers would go hungry.
About JB:
Here are some things you should know about me. I sometimes talk about myself in the third person. I have a self-given nickname. And I spend most of my days obsessing about what my next meal will be. Im a paleo blogger, a Level 1 CrossFit coach and athlete, and a food hoarder. I love coffee. I hate olives. And I can eat my body weight in nut butter. Trust me, its impressive. Especially since Im pretty much allergic to nuts. Thats fun.
I grew up loving food. I remember coming home from school and making myself chocolate chip pancakes Every. Day. I also remember spending my days with constant stomach aches, trips to the emergency room because I could barely walk from the aches, and being in a constant battle with food. Food was often my best friend, but more so my enemy. I hated what food did to my body. I didnt understand what food was made for: to nourish us. It wasnt until I found paleo that food officially became my one true love. I began to figure out what foods worked for my body, began eating foods I never thought I would try, and began sharing my love for food with the world through my blog: paleomg.com .
Heres the thing. I dont claim to know all the science behind paleo, and in all honesty, I dont care. I just know how I feel. I know that since I started eating paleo, my stomach issues have gone away. I know that I havent been sick in two years. And I know that any sort of depression I had pre-paleo has disappeared. I have created my own version of paleo and have figured out what works for me and my body. My version of paleo includes dark chocolate and bacon. I know, I know, my life does sound pretty great, doesnt it? But eating paleo has given me the tools to create a lifestyle I can stick with and enjoy, because I know exactly what works for my body and what doesnt.
About the blog:
My food blog is called paleomg.com . Ill help you sound it out. It confuses people. Pay-lee-O.M.G. Good work. I share my life story on that thing. Its pretty much like reading a teenage diary, but with more of a sailormouth. And no fun dating life.
I started my blog to share with friends what I was cooking up while trying to stick with the paleo diet.As I began to blog more, I started to share every detail of my life throughout every post, from my love for exercise, to dating, to battles with acne, to body issues. Anything and everything goes into my blog. The more my blog grows and the more people I reach, the more I fall in love with blogging. Creating delicious food and laughter around the world is what I hope to do through my blog.
About the cookbook:
I have written this cookbook for every single PaleOMG fan that has supported me, tried a recipe, or told the world that paleo can be delicious. This cookbook is an expression of me. It has around seventy of my favorite blog recipes, as well as over thirty new ones that have never been posted on my website. Exciting!! It also has MANY pictures of me in it. I know, very self-centered. But thats what my blog is all about. Me. So if you walk away feeling like you hung out with me in your kitchen or drank a mimosa with me on your couch, good. Thats exactly what I was hoping for.
Im going to put it out there right now. I am NOT a photographer. And, I am NOT a professional chef. I am a 24-year-old woman who loves paleo food, trying new ingredients and sharing those thrown-together ingredients with the world.
And here is a disclaimer: I do curse. Not in my cookbook as much as I do in real life, or even my blog, but there is definitely some in here. Its not intended to offend you; its simply in here because its how I talk. Remember, Im 24well, turning 25 shortly after this book is released. And as much as my mother hates it, I am who I am. Curse words and all.
