10:00 am -- Museum of London and walk to St. Paul's Cathedral
- Price: FREE
- Duration: 2 hours and 20 minutes
- Address: London Wall area
Start this London tour, learning about everything you'll see in person today, at the Museum of London. After the museum, we'll visit a few places unknown to tourists along the way and seeing the iconic St. Paul's Cathedral.
*If your accommodation is not near this area of London, we recommend taking the tube to Barbican to reach our first stop. From there, exit right onto Aldgate Street and follow it until you see a black circular building in the middle of the roundabout with Museum of London written on it. You'll see signs directing you to the entrance.*
*Reference the map below for directions from Barbican Tube Station to Postman's Park. You'll find written directions between each stop in this section.*

To better your understanding of the city, this itinerary starts at a museum dedicated to it. At the Museum of London, you can learn everything about the city from Roman and Medieval times to today and you will use this knowledge throughout the rest of today. Watch a film about the Great Fire of London and try on clothes and hats from different points in London's history.
*Exit the main entrance of the Museum of London located on the second level (first level by British standards). Make a left and keep going until you see a bridge. Before crossing the bridge you'll see stairs to your left. Go down all the way (two flights) until you reach the bottom. When you come out you'll see the London Wall and be able to walk up to it.*

You can see a piece of the London Wall from inside the Museum of London, but for those who want a closer look, it's only a short detour. Built by the Romans, when the city was known as Londinium, the London Wall was a defined strategy built for the city in 200 AD.
*Postman's Park is on the way from the Museum of London to St. Paul's Cathedral. From the London Wall go back up the stairs, but only up one flight. Make a right on London Wall Road, a left onto the roundabout and the first left out of the roundabout onto St. Martin's Le-Grand. Cross over immediately after turning, so you're on the right side of the road. Past the brick building on the corner you'll see a black gate, that's the entrance to Postman's Park.*

A quick stop on the way to our next major destination is to a place most tourists wouldn't know about, but many may have seen on the big screen. Postman's Park was used as a film location in the 2004 film Closer.
In the scene set in this park, Dan, played by Jude Law, and Alice, played by Natalie Portman, walk around the park after she is just released from the hospital from injuries due to being hit by a car. Alice notes that the plaques in the park are dedicated to people who died trying to save the lives of others. Those plaques play a more significant role in the story later, but I won't spoil it for you. Best to watch before your visit and have a look for yourself.
12:20 pm -- Walk to St. Paul's Cathedral
- Price: FREE
- Duration: 10 minutes
*Exit Postman's Park from the same gate you entered and make a right back onto St. Martin's Le-Grand. Continue to walk straight for about five minutes. You'll see the church's dome on this walk. Walk towards it, crossing the street twice and pass St. Paul's tube station.*
*Once you reach the black gate surrounding the church, make a right. Do not go inside this gate, but continue to follow from the outside. At the end of it, you'll see the stairs to the front entrance of the cathedral to your left. Walk up them to enter. Continue walking forward and across the street to get a full view of the front of St. Paul's Cathedral.*
