Biographical
- Taylor was born on the 13 th of December, 1989.
- This makes her a Sagittarius.
- Her full name is Taylor Alison Swift.
- She was raised on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania.
- Taylor attended West Reading Elementary and Wyomissing Area Junior and High school.
- She is five feet eleven inches tall.
- Her nicknames are T-Swizzle, T, Tay and TayTay.
- She enjoys cooking, baking, taking photos and crafts.
- Taylors favorite number is thirteen, which is why her twitter name is @taylorswift13.
- She has a cat called Meredith.
Music - Part 1
- At the age of ten, Taylor took to stage of every karaoke competition, music festival and county fair that passed through her hometown.
- At eleven, Taylor visited every music label in town leaving behind homemade video tapes of her singing.
- Soon afterwards she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a NBA 76ers game.
- A computer repairman showed Taylor how to play three chords on a guitar!
- Once living in Nashville Taylor secured a record deal with RCA Records - one of the flagship labels of Sony Music Entertainment
- At fifteen, Taylor decided to leave her record label RCA as she was ready to release her own material but RCA wanted her to perform songs by other artists and wait until she turned eighteen.
- Shortly after leaving RCA, Taylor and her parents began working with New York-based music manager Dan Dymtrow.
- Sadly however, Taylor once again parted ways with her manager - who later took legal action against her and her parents.
- In 2005, Taylor was spotted by Scott Borchetta at The Bluebird Caf. Scott was a DreamWorks Record executive and in the process of forming his own independent music label: Big Machine Records.
- Taylor ended up being one of the first artists signed to Big Machine .
General - Part 1
- At Fourteen, Taylors family moved to Nashville, Tennessee due to her fathers job. This is where she decided to pursue a career in country music
- Taylors favourite holiday is Christmas; in celebration of this she released a Christmas album in 2007. It was called The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection .
- Her mother named her after James Taylor and felt a gender-neutral name might benefit her as she grew up.
- Taylor often spent her summers at her parents holiday home in New Jersey.
- When she was little, Taylor won a national poetry contest with a three-page poem called Monster in my Closet.
- She said she would practise guitar until her fingers bled.
- Her first hobby whilst growing up was English horse-riding. By the age of nine she was even competing in shows!
- Before long Taylor turned her attentions toward musical theatre and performed at the Berks Youth Theatre Academy in shows such as Annie , Grease and The Sound of Music
- She often travelled to New York for vocal and acting lessons.
- Taylor enjoys the traditional methods of communication, such as writing letters.
Relationships
- One of Taylors earliest publicised relationships was with Joe Jonas - who reportedly broke up with her over a 27 second phone call.
- It was reported that Joe left her for Camilla Belle, his co-star in the video for Lovebug . The song Forever and Always was then written about Taylors relationship with Joe Jonas.
- She soon began dating Taylor Lautner (the Twilight hunk) after the two met on the set of Valentines Day. The paparazzi hilariously nicknamed the couple Taylor Squared.
- In 2010 Miss Swift was reportedly dating John Mayer - eleven years her senior - after collaborating on his song Hall of my Heart . He has been linked to other high-profile women such as Katy Perry and Jennifer Aniston. It is not officially known why the pair split, but her song Dear John was supposedly written about their relationship. Mayer has since commented that the track left him feeling humiliated.
- In 2011 Taylor was spotted out multiple times with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, sparking rumours of a relationship.
- In 2012, Taylor dated Conor Kennedy and even though their relationship was short-lived, it was filled with drama. The media reported that Taylor was more obsessed with the Kennedy family then she was with Conor himself! Apparently she turned up uninvited to Conors cousins wedding nuptials - stealing the attention away from the bride - and was asked to leave not just once but twice by the brides mother.
- Shortly after Taylor and Conor split, reports began surfacing that Taylor was smitten with One Direction s eighteen year-old Harry Styles. The two jetted off to the Virgin Island on New Years Day - but just four days into the holiday, Taylor was pictured flying back to the U.S after the two apparently had a huge argument and ended their relationship.
- Lisa Osbourne (wife of Jack) took to Twitter shortly after the Styles split saying Either Taylor Swift is bats**t crazy & causes every guy to dump her, or she has too high standards for these poor guys! Droppin like flies.
- The media went crazy toward the end of January 2013 when Taylor was the joke at the Golden Globes: the two hosts advised her to stay away from the nights Mr Golden Globes - Sam Fox. Later on everyone was keen to know father Michael J. Foxs view on the joke, to which he responded I dont keep up with it all - but Taylor writes songs about everyone she goes out with right? What a way to build a career. Obviously he was not keen on the idea that his son could be the basis of a song. Two days later, Taylor took to Twitter, informing everyone that Fox had in fact apologised to her for his comments.
- On the 22 nd January 2013, the media reported that Taylor had touched down in the UK and booked into a hotel close to Harry Styless home in London... could a reconciliation be on the cards?
Music - Part 2
- After experimenting with many Nashville producers, Taylor convinced her manager Scott to hire her demo producer Nathan Chapman.
- Although it was his first time working on a studio album, Nathan ended up producing all but one song.
- Taylor took to MySpace in order to build a fanbase and would write a blog, personally respond to fan messages and leave comments on fans accounts.
- She also baked cakes to send out to radio stations that played her songs!
- Taylor was just sixteen years old when her first album was released, but it received great praise from critics such as The New Yorker and Rolling Stone and within its first week had sold 39,000 copies.
- Taylor opened for Rascal Flatts during the last nine days of their tour after their original support act - Eric Church - was fired. Taylor sent Eric a gold record with an accompanying thank you note for playing too loud and too long!
