THE DIFFERENCE

Difficult times cause all of us to reevaluate our lives, and open our eyes and hearts to new ways of seeing the world around us. Never before in my more than half a century as a spiritual psychic have so many clients come to me asking for my help. Every day, I see people struggling with tough questions and situations, as their normal issues are only exacerbated by the unfortunate events unfolding in the larger world around us.

Some are reeling from devastating lossesof loved ones, of marriages, of jobs, of homes, of financial security, of their basic sense of physical and emotional well-being.

Others are struggling with feelings of depression, anger, betrayal, hollowness, loneliness, emptiness, fear of an impending undefined threat of darkness.

Still others find themselves going through the necessary motions of their lives, fresh out of enthusiasm, unable to remember the last time they laughed and really meant it, or believed in something that actually mattered.

Difficult times can bring out the worst in some people. Unscrupulous corporate giants making multi-million-dollar bonuses amid company layoffs. Mortgage lenders pushing bad loans onto unsuspecting home buyers. And even some purported psychics who seek to profit off the bad luck and gullibility of those in need.

But at the same time, Ive been heartened to see the generosity that many in the world have offered to our brothers and sisters who are suffering. There are those who open their homes and hearts to a family member who has lost a job, and people who rally around a friend who is hurting. Whether you realize it or not, when you reach out to someone in need to offer a helping handeven in a small wayyoure reconnecting to the larger spiritual world.

What so many of us are yearning for is a reconnection with our own God-centered spirituality, where youll find truth, and comfort, and peace, and faith, and joy, and clarity, and genuine hope, and very real answers to very real day-to-day problems.

These people who come to me are on a search as old as humankind, a search I took myself, a search I finally learned doesnt lead out there somewhere but instead leads in here, deep inside each of us where our own spirits wait for us to discover them, explore, and just listenbecause they hold wisdom greater than our conscious minds can dream of. They hold our sanctity and our eternity for safekeeping until we go Home again. They hold the certainty that not only will things be okay soon, theyre okay now , our conscious minds just cant fathom the bigger picture that gives us the context we need to understand the why of whats happening to us.

Within this book youll find the road map of my journey to the divine peace of spirituality, and the many journeys that paved the way for the rest of us. My prayer is that somewhere in these pages youll rediscover the spark of the sacred light inside youthe spark you were born with, your birthright from your Creatorso that tomorrow, and the day after that, and every day for the rest of this lifetime on earth youll live with the confidence that God, His Angels, and the infinite spirit world are beside and inside you, just waiting for you to open your arms to them.

PART I

A SPIRITUAL ODYSSEY

MY OWN ODYSSEY BEGINS

I cant imagine my life as a psychic without a lifetime equally devoted to God and spirituality.

But then, I cant imagine any life on this rough earth without the comfort, healing, purpose, and joy to be found in Gods arms and in spirituality, where His infinite mysteries and answers lie waiting.

I was lucky (although I would never have used that word when I was a child). I never had to wonder whether the spirit world existed. I knew it did. I saw it, I heard it, and I sensed it all around me, whether I wanted to or not. Without my brilliantly psychic and deeply spiritual grandmother Ada Coil there to explain what was happening and build a bridge between my unique reality and the sanctity of where it came from, Im sure I would have lost my sanity. (There are those who would argue that the debate about my sanity rages on, but I stopped listening to them decades ago.) Grandma Ada educated me about the gifts I was born with and helped me appreciate them instead of fearing them. She also taught me never to stop questioning, learning, studying, and exploring every aspect of spirituality that keeps our genetic connection to God thriving and relevant. She inspired the spiritual journey to which Ive devoted my life and gave me her clear footsteps to follow as I started, just as this book is my way of giving you mine.

As some of you already know, Im a third-generation psychic. Among my particular gifts from birth were clairvoyance (the ability to see beings that originate in other dimensions) and clairaudience (the ability to hear voices and sounds that originate in other dimensions). For added flair, I was even born with a caul, or fetal membrane, around my head, which according to ancient legend is the sign of a psychic child. So when the spirit world came to me long before I would ever have thought of seeking it out, I didnt understand it at first, but there was certainly no mistaking it.
