Like many of us my journey of health, fitness, and attempting to achieve and maintain a healthy weight has been similar to a roller coaster ride. Plenty of ups, downs, and unexpected curves, which can leave your head (and heart) spinning. There were times when I couldnt wait to step on the scale, and times when, well, lets just say it fell into the not so pleasant category.

Without a doubt, the greatest success that I have had on a long-term, consistent basis was when working in partnership with Cathy Morenzie. Her God-given, cut to the chase, common sense approach to training, nutrition, and balance has been an emotional and practical inspiration to me again and again. From writing down my goals, journaling my food intake, committing it all to God, to keeping the long-term goals in mind, I have developed into not only a goal-setter but a goal-getter! You can also add six-time marathoner to that!

Praise the Lord! Cathy has decided to share her learning and experience from the Lord with not only with her clients but with us as well. INTRODUCTION
The Problem

Do you have any idea how powerful you are? Have you ever thought about it? In Luke 10:19, Jesus says, I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. And thats just one of many scriptures that talk about the power we have in Christ.

So if we have all this power and authority, why do we feel so powerless? How is it that we have been given the power and authority to cast out demons, yet we cant stop ourselves from eating a piece of chocolate? Why do we struggle with so many issues around our weight, such as emotional eating, physical inactivity, self-control, guilt, and feelings of low self-esteem?

A 2006 Purdue University study by Ken Ferraro, and later a 2011 Northwestern University study by Matthew Feinstein, discovered that religious Americans were more likely to be overweight than their nonreligious peers. How can this be? Shouldnt we be the healthiest people on the planet because of the promises that God has given us? Wheres the disconnect? The Purdue study indicated that many of the factors related to being overweight were associated with the increased social activities churchgoers participated insuch as after-church brunches and get-togethers. The fellowshipping with our fellow brothers and sisters is nice, but we need solutions to this health crisis. We dont need another church dinner, bake sale, or barbecue.
