Like many of us, my journey of health, fitnessand attempting to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, has beensimilar to a roller coaster ride. Plenty of ups, downs andunexpected curves which can leave your head (and heart!) spinning.There were times when I couldnt wait to step on the scale andtimes when, well, lets just say it fell into the not so pleasantcategory.
Without a doubt, the greatest success that Ihave had on a long term, consistent basis was when working inpartnership with Cathy Morenzie. Her God-given, cut to the chase,common sense approach to training, nutrition and balance has beenan emotional and practical inspiration to me again and again. Fromwriting down my goals, journaling my food intake, committing it allto God and keeping the long term goals in mind, I have developedinto not only a goal setter, but a goal getter! INTRODUCTION
The Problem
Do you have any idea how powerful you are?Have you ever thought about it? In Luke 10:19 Jesus says, Ihave given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and toovercome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.And thats just one of many scriptures that talks about the powerwe have in Christ.
So if we have all of this power and authority,why do we feel so powerless? How is it that we have been given thepower and authority to cast out demons, yet we cant stop ourselvesfrom eating a piece of chocolate? Why do we struggle with so manyissues around our weight such as emotional eating, physicalinactivity, self-control, guilt and feelings of lowself-esteem?
A 2006 Purdue University study discovered thatreligious Americans were more likely to be overweight than theirnonreligious peers. How can this be? Shouldnt we be the healthiestpeople on the planet because of the promises that God has given us?Wheres the disconnect? The Purdue study indicated that many of thefactors related to being overweight were associated with theincreased social activities churchgoers participated in, such asafter-church brunches and get-togethers. The fellowshipping withour fellow brothers and sisters is nice, but we need solutions tothis health crisis. We dont need another church dinner, bake saleor barbecue.
The problem is analogous to having an airconditioner on a scorching hot day. We have been given anindispensable tool to help us but until we plug in the a/c, we willnever receive the benefit and the power that exists at ourdisposal. Until we call on the Holy Spirit to be our help, as ourinstruction book tells us, we will never walk in the authority wehave been given.
The Program
Healthy by Design: Weight Loss, Gods Way is a21 day workbook that will take you through the key principles ofweight releasing based on biblical principles. To get the maximumbenefit from the program you should carve out at least 20 minutesper day to complete the daily action steps. Take time throughoutyour day to reflect on the scripture. At the end of the day youshould read it again and record your thoughts based on thattopic.
The Daily Messages
The daily messages portray characters from thebible to teach us that our challenges are not unique; Godunderstands them and wants to help us if we allow Him. They alsoteach us how faith plays an integral part in our lives and ourvictory.
The Daily HealthChallenges
The daily health challenges are designed tomake you think about where you are in your journey. They aredesigned to viscerally take you out of your habitual patterns andbehaviors.
