CONTENTS

My life journey has been made brighter because of the love and mercies of Jehovah God. Thank you for choosing me to write this book.

To my husband and no 1 supporter (George); thank you for your love and encouragement. You always remind me not to give up on my dreams and goals. You have supported me to do, have and become more.

To my precious big sister (Prisca); you always make me feel special and Im blessed to have you as my family.

To all the powerhouse women across the world; thank you for your friendship and encouragement to keep doing what Im called to

We are all on the journey of discovery (personal and professional). However, what we discover is a personal choice. Only those on a journey have the opportunity to discover ways of doing, having and becoming more.

Personal Development Programme (PDP) is designed to open your mind to new possibilities and enable you to make positive changes in your desired areas of life.

Exercise

In the space provided below, write down what is possible in your life right now.

Did you remember when you were a child, when nothing was impossible to achieve especially in your mind? As a child I have often thought of becoming a life transformer. It seemed difficult at that time but with persistence, I am now living my dream as a life transformer.

Now take your time and write down what you think is possible to you right now.

Do you know that success is a personal choice?

How successful do you think you are? Many people think that success is what an individual has acquired but I am here to let you know that, success is actually the feeling attached to what you have achieved. Take a moment to think of the feeling you had when you got that job, that car, that house, that certificate, that contract and that medal. Success is a feeling and not a possession like so many people would think. I understand that to become truly successful in life, you need to be focused, pay attention on where you are going and practice daily. There is a wise saying that winners do the things that failures dont like to do.

You have committed yourself on this excellent and life fulfilling journey and it would be more rewarding to look beyond your present situation and into the future of achievement.

Personal Identification

Most people allow others to put a label (identity) on them because they dont know who they are.

Exercise 2

WHO ARE YOU?

In the space provided below describe:

Who do you think you are?

Why do you think you are this person?

e.g.

a. I am a personal development expert.

b. Because I support a lot of people to discover their purpose

SWOT ANALYSIS

S = STRENGTH

W = WEAKNESS

O = OPPORTUNITY

T = THREAT

EXERCISE 3.

You are going to identify your best qualities using the SWOT system

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

What are the opportunities around you?

What are the threats preventing you from moving forward?

EXERCISE 4.

What are you capable of doing?

E.g. I can organize coffee meetings

Using the example above as a guide; take time to dig deep and bring out all those hidden talents and skills.

In the table provided below list what you can possibly do as a person.

At this point we will be looking at goal setting and how you can use this methodology to create a better living. In 1953, some students from Yale University were asked to take part in an experiment of goal setting.

In that experiment the students were asked to write down whatever goal they would like to achieve in their personal and professional lives. Twenty years later it was discovered that the 3% of students who wrote their goals have actually achieved more in life than the 97% who did not bother to have a written goal. This goes to show the power of a written goal.

Goal setting

A goal is something an individual desires to achieve either on a long-term or short-term basis. It could be a personal or a professional desired outcome. A goal can be described as a desired destination an individual or group of individuals aspires to reach at a specific time. According to Stephen Covey (the seven habits of highly effective people) he states that habit two is to begin with the end in mind. The end is what you desire and hope to achieve which I call the destination.

For instance, when I wanted to start my business, I had to look into the future and picture what my business would look like in the future. I wrote down my desired goal and also the date that I would want to commence operations. One thing I noticed was that when I wrote down my desired goal about starting a coaching and mentoring business, the picture became clearer. I started putting everything together that would enable me achieve my goal. It was as if time and nature was waiting for me to take that first step. Suddenly, I realized the meaning of starting a project. Prior to that time, I could not understand the meaning of project management. The discovery was so empowering and things began to take its shape. The future became closer than I thought and the darkness of limiting belief started to lift. I could even smell success from a distance and my pace towards achieving my goal increased as the day goes by. Who would have thought that what began as a dream could one day become a reality just by taking such a small step.

No wonder Lorri Hardy said do not be afraid to step into the unknown, for where there is a risk, there comes a reward.

May I suggest to you to start from where you are right now and begin to write down those goals which you desire to achieve. As simple as a written goal may seem, it is also very powerful because it acts as a pointer to where an individual wishes to reach (personally/professionally). Written goals makes you think of the next step of action. Immediately I saw what I have written down on my paper (goal), my brain started working towards that destination (my desired outcome). Questions and answers came forth as though it has been waiting for me to take that simple step. It was completely overwhelming.

There is always a journey to be made in order to reach a desired destination. In order to travel to that destination there are steps/action plans to make in order to facilitate the journey. Many people get stock after they have written down their goals.
