Chapter 1
P OSITIVE T HOUGHTS , P OSITIVE L IFE
T houghts become things.
I read the book The Secret and was fascinated by it. It is about the law of attraction, the belief that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, people can bring positive or negative experiences into their life.
Thoughts become things seems like such an easy and simple method. So why am I just now hearing about it? Through all my education and training to get to where I am now, I had never heard of this. As I read more, I did what most people do when they are in unfamiliar territory and lack understanding. I Googled it! When I typed in The Law of Attraction, I found pages upon pages of information. There were books, quotes, videos, interviewsyou name it. I found it all there staring me in the face. I just hadnt been using this simple law that so many others had been. If I had been using it, I definitely hadnt been aware, or perhaps I had been using it in the wrong way. As I researched it more, I came across some top-name celebrity believers, such as Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey, and Will Smith, to just name a few.
I began to reflect on my life and came to the realization I had used this law after all, but for the most part, had used it to attract some really awful experiences. I was a victim of using the law of attraction in all the wrong ways. I thought back to my medical school training and figured out I had talked myself, or rather thought myself, into failing a class. I had let my fear and the negativity spread by students who had previously taken the class fuel my own anxiety about the test. I had been intimidated by the class, the professor, and even my classmates who seemed to have a better foundation for the material than I did to plant negative seeds into my thinking. I had failed the class without even listening to one lecture. I had a negative mindset from the jump, and unknowingly, had allowed that to lead to my downfall. I thought I was going to fail, so I did.
See, the law of attraction basically states that:
If you think it will happen, it will.
If you think something will show up, it will.
Positive thoughts, positive life.
Negative thoughts, negative life.
What we put out will come back to us.
Chapter 2
A FFIRMATIONS : Y OU A RE W ORTH I T !
A n affirmation is an assertiona confident and strong statement of fact or belief that something is true. It is your big fat yes! Feeding your brain with positive statements makes you believe you can achieve something bigger or greater in your life. When you practice affirmations, you are essentially confirming that statement, which then gives you a confidence boost and motivates you to keep going.
The practice of daily positive self-affirmations helps accomplish three things. First, it strengthens a positive mindset. Second, it resets a negative mindset. Third, it shows gratitude. Affirmations dont have to be said when youre experiencing a low point.
They can be said when you are experiencing joys or even when nothing is really going on in your life. Daily affirmation practice helps condition your mind. You feel worthy when you practice self-affirmations. If you tell yourself you are strong daily, I can guarantee you will start to actually believe it. Once again, thoughts become things, and the value of positive thoughts, positive life is ready for you to embrace and receive it.
Resetting our mind puts out into the universe what we want to come back to us. If you put out positivity, it will come back and come back magnified. We want positivity in our lives. We need to speak positivity in our own lives and stop expecting other people to validate us.
Make sure you are putting out into the atmosphere something positive so something positive can come back to you, because you are worthy. We are our own worst critics, and when we project out negativity, guess what comes backmore negativity. When we practice positive affirmations, we begin believing we are worthy and deserving of more.
We will be strong and armored to fight whatever comes our way.
