Memory Improvement: New Ultimate Guide to Accelerated Learning & Brain Training - Learn How to Improve Your Memory, Declutter Your Mind + Increase Productivity

Memories are crucial to us as human beings because, in so many ways, it helps shape who we are. They work as an internal biography of our lives, documenting the things that happened to us, what weve done, and make the stories we tell about ourselves.

Memory serves as the sum total of what we remember and helps us learn from previous experiences. Consider for a moment how many times in a day you rely on your memory to help you with passwords, finding directions, or greeting someone on their birthday.

Human memory makes all these things possible and more. The retrieval of relevant information is something we all do on a regular, daily basis, and whether we realise it or not, we rely so much on memories more than we ever accomplish. In order to make new memories, our brain processes information and stores them for later use.

Owing to the fact that memories are so important to us, its loss can be very frustrating and can have devastating effects on our daily lives. And while age-related memory loss is inevitable, there are many different ways to preserve the integrity of this process through memory enhancement exercises. F acts about the Human Brain, How it Functions and the Anatomy

The human brain is composed of more than 10 billion neurons. The human brain carries out all higher mental functions. It is the seat of thinking, memory, reasoning, perception, emotions, mental abilities, and speech. The weight of the brain is about 1400 grams. Unlike other tissues, the brain is solely dependent on glucose for its energy requirements. It uses 20% of the total oxygen consumed by the body. It is, however, shocking that we know very little about the way it functions. For instance, we understand less about memory, and we do not know why we can learn and remember only some information more easily.

Inside the Human Brain: The working of the mind

Your Brain is: 3 Pounds, 3 Parts

Your brain receives a lot of messages transmitted from the other body parts. It processes them, and then sends prompt instructions to them. The brains has a weight of approximately three pounds. It has a texture similar to a firm jelly. The human brain resembles a walnut. Your brain is made up of several millions of nerve cells and nerve fibers. Externally, it is protected by the skull; which acts as a protector against shocks, jerks, and bumps. There is a fluid between the skull and the brain. The fluid acts as a shock absorber and protects the delicate brain from injuries.

Cerebrum (Forebrain), Cerebellum (Hindbrain), and Medulla (Brain stem) are the three parts of the human brain. Each part performs a specific role.

    Cerebrum (Forebrain)

It is the brains upper part and the largest. It has a dome shape. It occupies 80% of the brain and can be situated at the center towards the upfront. It controls your thinking, remembering, problem-solving, feeling, and movement.

The brain is symmetrically split into two hemispheres- the left and the right. The right hemisphere controls the bodys left side and vice versa. Consequently, the damaging of one side will affect the other side of the brain. The nerve fibers, through which cerebrum communicate with each other, is called white matter. Corpus callosum is the large white matter that is present in the cerebrum and joins the hemispheres.

Cerebrum comprises of nerve cells responsible for thinking, reasoning, controlling memory, thoughts, intelligence and learning, and also controls the sense organs. This part is larger in humans relative to body size in any other vertebrates because humans are considered more intelligent than any other vertebrate.

    Medulla (Brainstem)

The medulla is a stem-shaped structure. It takes care of such events like circulation of blood, the heartbeat and breathing that are involuntary. It works even when you sleep. The brainstem connects 11 other cranial nerves in the head. The brain stem controls automatic functions like breathing and digestion.
