Are You Awake?
Do you not know that you are Gods temple and that Gods Spirit dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16]
Have you ever felt that you were more aware than others, as if they were walking zombies? Have you ever felt that inner spiritual yearning to know your true self? If you have pondered these questions, you are at the starting point of awakening True Nature.
Being awake means realizing true nature. Note that I did not say your True Nature. True nature is in every single one of us: Plants, single-celled organisms, animals and humans. What differs between us is consciousness and the physical body. It is important to know that consciousness is not part of true nature (This is addressed later.).
The second thing to note is that any path that leads to true nature is talking about the same thing. It does not matter what religion you are in. It does not matter which prophet, sage or ascended master you trust in. In the whole universe, there is only one universal truth. The only difference between religions is their degrees of perception, much like how you would use different perspectives to see the same object and they would all be different, although they are really the same truth.
The third thing to know is that any person who claims to know the truth does not really know the truth. This is because Truth is ineffable and not perceivable. The very act of conceptualizing Truth is lowering it to the level of consciousness.
I wrote this book to help people to unlock their true nature and live more harmonically in this life. Hopefully, I can also make the world a better place. The chance that you picked up this book tells of your fortune in encountering this knowledge, which does not appear to just anyone. With these three notions, let us ponder True Nature and unlock your true potential within.
With Compassion,
Nathan Miller

Insight 1: Hall of Mirrors The Reflection is not You
You see your reflection when you look into a mirror. But what is this reflection? It is not the real you. What you are looking at are light waves randomly bouncing and some of them coincidentally reaching your eyes. Your reflection in the mirror is a representation of you, but it can never be you. Your reflection does not have its own will. It simply mimics you.
When you want to change your reflection, you do not try to move the actual reflection. Instead, you move yourself and it follows suit. However, when you look at your reflection, you can get a clue of what the real you is. When you look at a reflection of the moon on the pond surface, you know that the moon is not in the water, but up there in the sky.
The only way you can tell is to know that whatever you are looking at is an illusion. When you know that you are looking at a mirror, then you can find your true self. In other words, one must firstly be aware of ones own ignorance and limitations. This is the first step of awakening True Nature.
The world we live in right now has myriads of mirrors, layered upon each other. The biggest mirror of all is your physical body. Look at your physical body right now. Yes, you eat, move, talk and do all sorts of things through this body.
But what makes it move? The nervous system makes it move. But yet, the nervous system is still not us. It is again, another reflection. We might then ask, what about the brain? The brain is much closer to true nature than the body, but yet it is still not it.
What is the real method to awakening True Nature? It is to remove these mirrors one by one. Of course, it is perfectly possible to suddenly remove all of them with an eureka moment. Many people have experienced sudden enlightenment. What does this insight tell you? What you think you are experiencing right now is a multi-layered mirror representative of the real nature. The very first hindrance to awakening True Nature is not knowing what this illusion is.
Insight 2: The Box with Pinholes The Limited Self
We know that we have five senses of sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. Each of these senses are performed by one specific organ.
Now, imagine yourself to be inside a dark box, where the only light coming in are from five tiny holes. Each of this hole represents one sense: Sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing.
Look through one of this holes. Surely, you can see a view of what is outside the box. But what is outside the opposite wall of the box behind you? You cannot see that perspective through this particular hole. This tiny hole represents how limited our senses really are. We can smell thousands of different scents, yet we cannot detect scents that are outside of our range. The same goes for our hearing, sight, touch and taste.
What does this actually mean? We pigeon-hole our experiences. Inside our noses, we have thousands of different smell-detector cells. However, our experience is limited to these types and nothing more. We cannot smell carbon monoxide or oxygen gas. We live in a huge filter, and our body is one huge example of many filters. This is one of the reasons why it is also a mirror (Previous chapter).
Other than our senses, we do have other filters. Our mind conceptualizes ideas and thoughts, shelving them according to our previous experiences and genetic limitations. It also processes information from the five sense organs and recreates it inside the brain, showing yet another reflection. It places labels on these experiences, such as pleasing, neutral or unpleasing.
One of the most fundamental mirrors is the mind. When our thoughts are impure and negative, our mirrored experience of the world is obviously negative. If our thoughts are pure, our experience of the world will be pure. What you think, even subconsciously, you inevitably experience.
Another thing to note is that consciousness works as a whole. It does not matter what sense you are employing, it is one big mirror. For example, there are people who, through certain disorders like synesthesia, have been able to taste colors. There are people who are able to feel sounds. There are those who are able to feel when other people are being touched. Consciousness is not separate, everything is in a single, unified experience.
