Introduction

T his devotional is designed to help you step into the Courts of Heaven on a daily basis and present your case before the supreme Judge of all. Scripture tell us in Hebrews 12:23 that God is this Judge. He rules the judicial system of Heaven that is referred to as the Courts of Heaven:

to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect.

We know that we shall all stand in the end and give an account for how we have lived before this Judge. However, He is presently sitting as Judge to rule, considering affairs in this life. Especially in things regarding those who belong to Him and are those He has chosen. We have the right to come before Him as Judge and present cases. Isaiah 43:26 encourages us in this.

Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.

The purpose of this 365-day devotional is to help us in this process. As you go through this devotional on a daily basis, be encouraged to do several things:

Read and meditate on the Scripture and thought for the day. Allow the precious Holy Spirit to speak beyond what is written and bring personal revelation.

Picture yourself standing in the Courts of Heaven before the Judge who desires to render decisions in your behalf. As you stand there presenting your case, allow the Lord to search your heart.

As you pray the prayer attached to each days devotion, allow the Holy Spirit to add to it. Let it be a jumping off place for you in your contending before the Courts for your breakthrough.

This devotional has been written with thoughts and Scriptures being gathered in themes. In other words, as you walk through this each day, there will be a theme that is bunched together for several days. As you engage yourself in this, believe that new realms will unlock in your spirit and over your life. By the time this has been done over a years time, operating in the Courts of Heaven should be a much easier process. Plus I believe you will have experienced new dimensions of breakthrough for you, your family, and the assignment you have from God.

Be bold in your God. He is waiting as the Judge to hear your case!

J ANUARY 1

THREE REALMS OF PRAYER

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. Luke 11:1

In response to the disciples asking Him to teach them to pray, Jesus put prayer in three dimensions in the Book of Luke. He placed it in approaching God as Father, Friend, and Judge. We must allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us these three realms of prayer, one of which is approaching God as Judge in His judicial system. Understanding these three realms of prayer can change the way we see God and then approach Him. Our perspective of who God is radically affects the way we pray and petition the Lord in His glory. We must ask the Lord for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to bring us ever-increasing insight to His true nature in all three of these dimensions mentioned (Eph. 1:17). As we grow in the knowledge of who God is, our prayers will be empowered. The result will be changed lives, situations, and breakthroughs.

Lord, as I stand before You, I ask for the revelation and understanding of who You are. Thank You that because of Your blood shed for me I can approach You as my Father, as my Friend, and as my Judge. I take great delight in allowing the Holy Spirit to teach me how to relate to You in these three realms. Thank You for the revelation I have and that which I will have and is to come.

J ANUARY 2

APPROACHING GOD AS FATHER

So He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Luke 11:2

God as our Father is basic to any and all prayer. We will never go any deeper in prayer than our revelation of Him as Father allows. We must have the spirit of adoption create in our heart the cry of Abba Father (Rom. 8:15). This brings revelation of who God truly is. It deals with any religious version of God that the devil would use to pollute our ideas of God and His activities toward us. This will set the platform for our operation in the Courts of Heaven. Most if not all people carry wounds or at least issues in their hearts from insufficient fathering. With the spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit comes and brings revelation of God as Father. This allows us to come boldly before Him without fear and ask abundantly from our covenant position. We are children of the Most High God. First John 3:12 speaks of the wonderful love of the Father that has made us His child. Nothing can separate us from Him or His love (Rom. 8:3839).
