I give gratitude to my beautiful inner teachers, who are guiding me night and day with tireless dedication and devotion. Your love and support bring this wisdom to the world.

I am deeply grateful to Jeff Herman and Deborah Adams for your true friendship, compassion, spirit, and undaunted perseverance, even through the greatest challenges. I especially thank you for not giving up on me. I thank Mike Lewis for believing in this book and Stacey Farkas and Tracey Collins for bringing it to completion.

I give gratitude to all those who brought these beautiful teachings to me. I thank Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, first and foremost, for opening my mind to higher states of consciousness and for his Vedic wisdom. My gratitude goes to Dr. Peter Victor Meyer, Dr. Ann Meyer Makeever, Rich Bell, and Joanna Cherry for bringing me the precious knowledge of Divine Revelation. I thank Ved Prakash for his contributions to this work.

I t was the height of the spiritual revolution in Berkeley, California: 1967. Flower children and hippies abounded. At age nineteen I was one of them.

What changed my life was the day I entered a meditation center. A faint fragrance of flowers, incense, and camphor lingered in the air. The photograph on the wall was somehow familiar, yet I'd never met the longhaired, bearded guru (one who brings light to the darkness in Sanskrit) dressed in white silk robes with coral beads around his neck. I immediately fell in (spiritual) love.

For the next twenty-one years I studied and resided with this guru in his ashrams (spiritual communities) in India, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Italy, in the Himalayas, the Alps, and secluded areas of the United States. For seven of those years I was on his personal staff. His name was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of Transcendental Meditation, the largest meditation organization in the world.

My daily experience during those years consisted of deep meditation and Yoga. I meditated up to twenty hours a day, sometimes entering my room and not appearing until eight weeks later. I went into silence and didn't utter a word for up to four months at a time. I was an introvertand that's definitely an understatement.

Every day meditation brought me to the state of samadhi (equipoise) and satchitananda (absolute bliss consciousness), the goals of yoga. This was a more profound experience of inner peace and deep silence than I could have ever imagined.

After spending twenty years with my eyes closed, however, I woke up one day to realize I wasn't a spiritual person. How could I regularly attain the goal of Yoga, the sublime state of samadhi, and not be spiritual? Somehow, I did.

You might define a spiritual person as kind, generous, charitable, gentle, compassionate, loving, and patient. I wasn't any of these. In fact, I was a b with an itch. I looked around the ashram and found an abundance of meditators who were also selfish, narcissistic, impatient, rude, arrogant, pretentious, caustic, and immensely fearful, even to the point of paranoia.

Something was missing. Although I experienced deep meditation and fulfillment in the state of samadhi, that wasn't enough. The impersonal deep silence of satchitananda didn't make me more loving, although it brought inner peace. I wasn't aware I could experience a richer, fuller experience of my divine naturethe personal aspect of Spirit.

Happily, luckily, through meeting Dr. Peter Meyer and becoming involved with his organization, Teaching of Intuitional Metaphysics, I learned how to contact and communicate with the indwelling, loving, divine presence, the intimate, personal aspect of the divine. This was an amazing transformation that opened my mind and heart to a myriad of joyous adventures into inner space that I want to share with you.

Therefore, I've written this book to help you explore both the impersonal absolute, the sublime goal of Yoga, called satchitananda, and also the personal aspects of your divine higher self. The teaching that I founded, Divine Revelation, helps anyone listen to the still small voice of divine intuition within and to use it in a practical way to solve everyday problems, receive divine guidance, love, healing, and inspiration, and be led by Spirit in daily life.
