Introduction
Y ou are curious about CBD. Youve heard about it, youve seen it in stores and on signs, and you know people who rave about it. But you arent sure what it can do for you, where to buy it, or how to use it. You may have friends swear by it to help their ailments, but since you dont have the same condition, you dont know how it could help you or even if it could help you. Maybe you have even tried a CBD oil once and were put off by the taste, or the dosage you tried didnt have any effect. You have heard so much good about it; you want to give it a serious try by incorporating it into your life and diet. You want to learn how it can help you and maybe even someday replace your prescribed pharmaceuticals (under a doctors care, of course). This book is here to help answer all your questions and get you started on the right path to a relationship with one of the most versatile and healing plants in existence: cannabis (also known as hemp). CBD stands for cannabidiol , one of hundreds of cannabinoids, which come from the cannabis plant. It is a chemical compound different from THC. CBD may be legally sold with up to 0.3 percent THC in it, which allows relief for those who live in areas where medicinal cannabis is illegal or those who want help but not the side effects of THC. It is important to point out, this amount of THC is untraceable in the body and therefore will not have any real effects on the body or mind. My friend Cheryl Cryer, who owns and operates CryBaby CBD, and I collaborated on this book to inform you what CBD is, what it does, how it helps, and how to use it.
In the beginning of this book, we will take a journey to learn some brief history to show us the truth about hemp, including how it came to America. After we learn the history, we will move on to learn about the science, including the endocannabinoid system and how CBD and other cannabinoids are designed to work with your body.
Of course, we will learn about dosinghow to do it and where to start. Microdosing is all the rage and allows the body to keep CBD levels elevated continuously, which means the effects wont wear off. Constantly replenishing the CBD in your system with microdosing keeps you in a stable state of healing.
Not only does the science teach how CBD works, but it also verifies what is a safe product and what is not. The science chapter will also introduce you to terpenes and explain how terpenes can work with CBD (or THC) to produce more intense, stronger effects.
Once we know the history and science, we can start exploring all the many options available to you in how you can use CBD. It comes in many different formsflower, concentrates, powders, oiland this can be quite confusing to people who are new to it. Big tip: other than companies wanting to make money, one reason there are so many of them is to make it easier to find what works best for you. Using CBD is trial and error. There is no real other way to do it. Knowing what you are working with is paramount to your success. Educating yourself on what you are using is critical. You have already started by reading this book, but there is more research and trial and error to be done.
