I have read many books about the prophet. I have even written a book about prophets, prophecy, and prophetic revelation. However, I have not read a book that has better explained the prophet than James Golls book, The Prophet. James develops the building blocks of the anatomy of a prophetic word and then how that prophetic word is to be delivered. He includes both mind and heart expression in this work. A prophet just does not speak truth but also expresses the heart of God in the delivery of the word. We all prophesy, but some are prophets. This book is a must for either.

In the last four decades we have seen the restoration of the prophet. Thank God that we now have this book that represents the fullness of what this gift was meant to express. We are on the verge of a new Holy Spirit movement. The key to prophecy is the Holy Spirit, and the modern-day prophet must be filled with the Spirit. I want to thank Dr. James Goll for writing an amazing book, The Prophet, that is practical, inspirational, and most importantly biblical. It is also apologetical in that it refutes the cessationist position, which rejects the continuation of the gift of prophecy and the office of the prophet. I found the book a welcome addition to books about prophecy, but this is moreit is a textbook for anyone who wants to learn about prophecy, prophets, prophetic ministry, and their relationship to the Church in the twenty-first century. The chapter on women and prophecy is a very applicable chapter for the time in which we live, with its high value on women. I also loved the emphasis of the chapter, From Surrender to Sent Ones with its focus on being servants and then servant leaders. I believe everyone who wants to grow and learn about prophetic ministry should buy and read The Prophet.
