Preface
Hundreds, and may be thousands of books have been written and are still being written on success, winning strategies, leadership, influencing people, and making friends, or interpersonal skills and so on. Most of them talk about laws, and habits, which make people successful.
What motivated me to write this book was the fact that there is very little organised literature available about passion, and how to follow your heart to be successful. It is also intriguing that every book on motivation talks about this aspect, without giving any worthwhile inputs on the subject.
This surprised me because that really is the driving energy behind every activity. It is one of the strongest emotions available to human beings. Had there been no passion, the human race wouldnt have come into existence, and wouldnt have proliferated, as it has over the millions of years of our existence.
The second reason for writing this book was that, the time has come when we can afford to experiment. The opportunities available today are far greater than what were available three to four decades ago. In the sixties, population in India was around 33 million, and one had very few options beyond engineering, medicine, chartered accountancy, or a government job. Today, the population is a little over 1,000 million (three times the earlier mark), whereas, opportunities and types of professions/vocations have gone up by 50 times, if not more. Mass communication, ITEs, consultancy, telecom, show business, catering, hotel industry, and airlines, to name a few, have all proliferated to unbelievable scales. Many of us have gone far beyond the Roti, Kapda, aur Makan syndrome so its time to experiment.
I have met a lot of people especially in the last 10 years who have been happily successful, by taking on a profession which they actually wanted to be in. This was another convincing reason to write this book. Thus, in net effect, this is liberalisation we are today liberalised to follow our heart.
Passion in isolation would be like a genie locked up in a bottle. It has to come in contact with our other attributes, like vision, skills, creativity, and determination, to make any worthwhile impact on our lives.
Combined with all our other abilities, it should be able to help us achieve what we want to achieve. I am convinced that it is the single most important ingredient for success. Passion for success means two things you must be passionate about success, and to be successful, you must be passionate. While working on this, it became clear to me that it is required from KG to PG during the days of our education, and is also important for executives, entrepreneurs, political leaders, industrialists, and even philanthropists. So, the applicability bandwidth is pretty broad.
I have given enough examples of people from different walks of life and professional domains, to demonstrate that the best thing would be to follow your likes and bring that fizz to your life.
It also became clear that with conscious efforts, we can identify what we like, and what we dont, which becomes the first step forward. You need not be madly in love with something to start with, but constant efforts can always bring very positive results. Eventually, you should be able to say for yourself, I live to work and not work to live.
I am sure the readers would greatly benefit by reading this book, and will be able to identify their strong likes and dislikes, and venture into areas which will bring them happiness, bliss, and success!

Introduction
Almost every book and literature on success and motivation talks about passion, in some context or the other. It becomes the propelling force for professionals, entrepreneurs, musicians, actors, lawyers, pilots, writers, scientists, fashion designers, and almost every conceivable human profession. On the personal front, to do up your home, making a marriage work, organising fashion shows in college, a picnic with friends, making a rockery in your garden, going for a long drive, getting your body in shape, and even wooing your girlfriend or boyfriend; all require only one element-passion. In schools and colleges, students who are enthusiastic about a subject, spend more time learning that subject without getting tired of it, and hence, score the highest marks in that subject. It is not unusual to hear someone say, I love maths, and the other one saying I hate French, cant understand a word of it!. Many science buffs who are in awe of science, love physics, but hate chemistry! All this is to do with your inner inspiration.
