Why Is It Important Nowadays To Have A Strong Concentration

Having the power to focus your mind seems to be one of the greatest ways of achieving success in all areas of your life, since compared to other people who have a distracted mind, yours is capable of strongly focusing on specific tasks and complete them as needed.

While it's true that most of us cannot concentrate and our mind usually wanders throughout the day, there are ways you can consider in order to improve your concentration. But what is concentration in the first place?

Defining concentration

Concentration is the mental ability that allows you to focus your attention on a single subject or thought without letting anything else intrude your field of awareness.

Having a focused mind is a very useful ability, since it allows you to focus on anything you want at will, without having to worry about being distracted by noises, thoughts or any other disturbances.

The ability to concentrate is required when you perform a host of activities, including working, meditation, studying, reading and many more. However, there are many other benefits of having a focused mind and they include:

1. Strengthening your intuition.

2. Improving your ability to meditate.

3. Becoming more efficient.

4. Conserving your energy.

5. Improving your ability to study and your memory.

6. Gaining inner peace.

7. Gaining control of your thoughts.

The advantages of an improved concentration

When you'll manage to improve your concentration, you are going to realize just how much your life can change for the better.

The ability of meeting deadlines, studying and learning faster, but also being more mentally organized are just some of the many benefits to come from this.

Not to mention the fact that you'll never forget where youve placed your car keys or your mobile phone and waste precious time looking for them when you're already late to work.

The mind is still a mystery and a wonderful, yet powerful instrument that helps us get through our daily lives in a way that protects us from the surmountable amount of stress modern living exposes us to.

Mastering the infinite power of your mind means that you'll not only be able to control your thoughts and lower your stress levels, but you are also going to find it easy to focus on the positive things in life. Why Is It Harder To Concentrate Nowadays Than Ever Before

Nowadays, a lot of people are complaining about how hard it is for them to focus on just about anything that has to do with being productive.

While some individuals do indeed have a lazy mind due to a repeated avoidance of activities that involve critical thinking, a long attention span and focusing, others may suffer from certain diseases or conditions that renders them incapable of focusing.

So what are these issues that make people unable to concentrate and is there a fix to them?

Attention deficit disorder

A large part of the population who cannot focus has ADD. This is a condition in which the brain's Prefrontal Cortex is impaired, leading to a series of symptoms that include impulsivity and the inability to focus.

Many people believe that ADD is something that only kids can suffer from, but the condition is also experienced by many adults. And while it was initially believed that there are only 2 types of ADD, later on Doctor Amen (a leader in the field of ADD) has discovered there are in fact 6.

The symptoms of ADD usually occur when you're around 12 years old and while some people believe that only individuals who have a low level of intelligence can get it, the reality is quite opposite.

Depression affects the ability to concentrate

Another reason to why people cannot concentrate is because they suffer from depression. Depressions can be triggered by stress, but they can also be endogenous, meaning that the brain lacks the right amount of chemicals or neurotransmitters to function properly. As a result, the effect of improper brain chemicals leads to sleep disturbances, appetite disturbances, preoccupation and lack of concentration. Depression can also be triggered by working a lot and getting little sleep.

Various medical conditions

Since most of us live a hectic lifestyle where we have to wake up early in the morning and then commute to work in a crammed subway or busy traffic, slowly, but surely, stress builds up.

We also eat junk food and spend less time sleeping and taking care of ourselves by jogging or going to the gym. In time, this can lead to many physical problems, including hypoglycemia, problems with the pituitary gland, the thyroid gland and even hormonal fluctuations.

Also, if your diet consists of foods that contain little protein, then this will also affect concentration. Therefore, before you think there's something psychologically wrong with you, it's best that you get a complete panel of blood work and a full physical examination.

Conclusion

As you can see, these are the most probable causes to why you cannot concentrate and it's worth checking if you do indeed have a regular lifestyle, if you're getting enough iron, calcium and protein and if you're also okay from a physical point of view.
