I used to be a big fan of beer. Im a German from Wisconsin! I brewed my own beer, and I went to beer festivals and tastings. I would eat fairly well during the week and whatever I wanted on the weekends. However, over time (with my wife, Maria, setting the example) I started to realize that this lifestyle wasnt benefiting my body and health. I began to remove all grains from my diet, but I wasnt ready to let go of my beer. It wasnt until about five years ago that I realized what it was doing to me. We were with Marias parents at their cabin, and I told Maria something was wrong with the water there. She said she felt fine and wasnt getting sick. Suddenly I realized it wasnt the water causing me to be ill; it was the beer. I am now beer-free and feel much better, plus have lost 40 pounds. I finally realized this is a lifestyle, not a diet. If a huge beer fan like me can do it, so can you!

We cover a range of topics that can help you realize your best health by changing the inputs your body receives. These inputs come from many sources, including the food you eat, your environment (light, sleep, and so on), and even what you put on your skin. Humans have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years, but our environment has drastically changed over the last couple thousand years. Our bodies are not intended to be in climate-controlled rooms that are devoid of natural sunlight year round. Humans have only recently had access to an endless supply of food, even in winter. We are not intended to consume the additives found in modern foods. In the last five decades, the number of approved food additives has skyrocketed from 800 to more than 14,000. We are inundating our bodies with substances they never had to deal with before. And this problem is getting worse every day as processed foods become more and more common.

I was a very analytical kid. Numbers just made sense to me. I got my degree in electrical engineering and spent a lot of time in labs diagnosing problems in digital systems. Whenever there was an error in an electrical output, I would look to the inputs to determine what was causing the output error.
