After practicing body acceptance for a few years, I almost threw it all out the window in the blink of an eyefor the promise of easy and virtually guaranteed weight loss.

All I had to do was inject myself with some urine by-product and only consume five hundred calories each day.

I know. Id lived so long by the dieters motto (if it sounds too good to be true better try it) that even Im not sure how I passed up that sweet deal.

One of the things that happens when youre curvy (regardless of your size in most cases) is that going to the doctor is a total roll of the dice. In my own experience, I have often been shamedboth subtly and not so subtly.

What I havent often been, though, is heard. But then I met a doctor who befriended me. Our bodies didnt look too dissimilar from each other, so I felt a kinship with her. She shared her story of being on many different diets over the years, which I totally related to as I shared some stories of my own.

At this point, the conversation had been so easy and fun that I thought we were possibly destined to be besties. So when she started to tell me about this natural diet shed been on that had caused her to lose more weight than she ever had before, how its the only thing shed ever researched that actuallyworks, how its natural, you better believe my ears perked right up.

And the good news? All I had to do was give myself the aforementioned injections of a hormone contained in pregnant womens urine and limit myself to five hundred calories a day. Its totally easy, she said, you wont even be hungry!

She had me hook, line, and sinker. Of course I wouldnt go on a fad diet. How pass! But something natural? That wasnt FDA approved only because it would have ruined the diet industry (gotta love a diet conspiracy theory, right)? That a doctor I knew and liked and seemed a lot like me recommended? Sounds awesome!

Okay, I realize it may sound completely ridiculous. It does to me now.
