Introduction
Many people have heard of Tantric sex, or Tantra, due to celebrities such as Sting, Sean Puff Daddy Combs, Tom Hanks, and Heather Graham either publicly speaking about it themselves or their partners speaking out about it. What many people do not realize though is that this practice is not about having marathon sex. True Tantra began as a way to become more spiritual and reach enlightenment. Through the teachings, practitioners learn how to control their energy, which in turn can be used during sexual intercourse to prolong the orgasms. It can also lead to having multiple orgasms in a single session. Mastering the art of Tantra is not an easy feat and takes time and dedication. In todays society, couples are spending less and less time with each other. This in turn causes many relationships to fail because the emotional and physical connection ceases to exist. Practicing Tantra helps this and causes partners to feel more connected. There are several tools in which are used to awaken the goddess inside. These include meditation, dances, mantra, rituals, raising energy, and sexual exercises.
The following chapters will discuss the origins of Tantric sex and everything a beginner should know about its practices and the true meaning. Discussed will be the benefits of Tantra; the yoga, chakra, and breathing aspects; the differences between Tantric sex and Kama Sutra; several positions and techniques for beginners; male and female orgasms; and how individuals can improve their lives through the Tantric experience.
Every effort was made to ensure it is full of as much useful information as possible, please enjoy!
Chapter 1: What is Tantra and Tantric sex?
Tantric sex, also known as Tantra is a practice started with the Hindus in which partners practice to develop a deeper and more meaningful connection with each other. It is the teachings of the god Shiva and the goddess Shakti. Shakti is the goddess that signifies creativity and change. The ritual of tantric sex is known as maithuna. To Tantrics, the sexual act is not only of a physical nature but also more of a spiritual one that unlocks the doors for creation and the organic material in which life is founded: pleasure, consciousness, energy, motion, and beauty. It is a tool of human transformation originating in the body and leading to liberation. The physical body is the starting point. Tantra is not a religion, but rather a spiritual and mystic science affirming that we are not isolated because everything is connected. Energy and consciousness work together. The purpose of tantric sex is to personify the divinity of Shiva and Shakti in ourselves and to embrace the sacred character through our sexual experiences, laughter, teaching, and dancing. The objective is to enjoy life and learn to play and have fun. In this game, we need to join Shiva and Shakti within ourselves as the Principle Masculine and the Principle Feminine. Although Tantra originated with the Hindus, there is also a form of tantric Buddhism. These tantric Buddhists used substances like alcohol, which was considered taboo, ate meat, and had sexual rituals.
There are two forms of Tantric sex: Tantra and Neo Tantra. Tantra is the classical perspective. It is a spiritual practice to achieve enlightenment. There are thousands of Tantras, each representing different form of practice. The main goal is to realize the beauty of the world and how sacred all beings are. Romantic relationships are the focus of tantric practices because they are the ground for revealing the beliefs and emotions that cause suffering that we suffer and act in ways that harm others. The goal is to learn to act and respond appropriately to the realities of the world and act with clarity and compassion. This way, it helps to evolve the world towards a greater well-being and contentment for all beings. Many have heard of Yin and Yang. What they do not realize is that this is the representation of the female and male energies, originating with Tantra. According to Tantric beliefs, sexual energy is the greatest source of energy in the universe. In order to balance the mind and body, Tantra uses the power of the mind. There are many factions in Tantrism. According to Tantric belief, there are three reasons for sex: pleasure, procreation, and liberation. It does not promote or condemn having sex with multiple people, instead looking at it as a natural and unavoidable phenomenon.
Neo Tantra, also known as Sacred Sex, is the Western perspective. It combines sexuality and spirituality. It focuses primarily on the sexual aspects of tantric practices. Neo Tantra originated in San Francisco in the early 1900s.
Unlike traditional Tantra, Neo Tantra does not require having a guru. It has been used as a means to digress from traditional views on sexuality. It also does not focus as heavily on meditation and the ethical rules of conduct as traditional Tantra.
Chapter 2: History
Tantra was around long before Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and even Paganism. It began before there was any written documentation, being told and passed from generation to generation. Many elements have been traced to the fourth millennium BCE, although texts have only existed since the sixth century BC. Thousands of these texts were written between the eighth and fourteenth centuries, which was the medieval period in India. Modern religion has condemned sex and has made it so that it has become more and more repressed. Tantra, though it is not a religion, embraces it as a reflection of wisdom and is open to life in all aspects. This includes sex because sexual encounters is a part of life. It is not only what continues the human race but also a pleasure in life.
Shiva and Shakti are the embodiments of Tantra. It is widely believed that the teachings of Shiva and Shakti date back to 2500 BCE with the Indus Valley civilization. They were unified by the same energy.
