In this book, skin rashes and discolor ation ar e gener ally described as the y appear on paler skin. It may be dicult to identify them on dark er skin tones, but the y may be easi er to see on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet , lips, tongue, or inside the eyelids, if an y of those areas is a ected. Wi th certain conditions, discoloration ma y aect the s kin and the whites of the eyes (appearing yellow in jaundice, f or example), and the eye discolor ation should be detectable r egar dless of a person s skin color .
