Preface
Due to my extensive experience in dealing with government agencies regarding issues of mercury and organic mercury toxicities, I was asked to write a preface for this presentation of the recorded conversations between Dr. Brian Hooker (a parent of an autistic child and an activist for autistic children and their parents) and Dr. William W. Thompson (a Senior Scientist with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC).
My academic research resulted in my presentation of data on laboratory level thimerosal toxicity at both the 2000 and 2004 Institutes of Medicine meetings regarding vaccine safety. I was exposed to the opinions of both autistic parents and the CDC on the involvement of vaccines, or components of vaccines, in the well-recognized epidemic of autism that started in approximately 1990. I came to this issue as a scientist. I am not the parent of a child with autism, nor, to my knowledge, are any of my relatives afflicted with this illness.
I truly wish I could write that I think vaccines are as safe and effective as the CDC claims they are, but I cannot. I have read hundreds of articles published in scientific journals, both supporting and questioning the safety and the potential toxicity of vaccines, with many describing the basic biochemical and cellular toxic effects of vaccine components such as thimerosal and aluminum. Based on my extensive study of this issue over many years, as I write today, I have sincere and severe doubts about the safety and efficacy of vaccines (both those currently used and those that have been removed from the market) used to inoculate our children against infectious diseases. I am specifically concerned that current supporters of todays vaccine program quote as fact research results in articles proven to be based on manipulated data.
The material herein, mostly presented by Dr. Thompson, a self-described whistleblower, details his experiences with inappropriate CDC handling of data used in peer reviewed journals to demonstrate vaccine safety. His statements are incredibly damaging to the reputation and credence of any work that the CDC supported that addresses the autism and vaccine safety issue. Indeed it implies that the American public cannot trust the health of its children to the most important health regulatory agency within the US government. The inability of the CDC to identify the causes of Autism Spectrum Disorders, no matter the rate, is apparent. Perhaps the reluctance of its leaders to appropriately consider potential causes that they find unpleasant to accept is the reason. Dr. Thompsons stated wish to be subpoenaed by Congress, along with his coworkers involved, gives credence to his statements implying malfeasance within the CDC.
Vaccine safety goes well beyond autism as well. It is disturbing to think that the comparatively high infant mortality rate that the US has compared to its peer nations, many of which have schedules far less aggressive than the USs schedule and many of which do not mandate vaccination, may be explained, at least in part, by the possible illness-inducing effects of our vaccine program. Would the lack of safety research be an explanation for the CDCs claim of one in six children with neurodevelopmental issues in the United States?
This series of conversations between Drs. Hooker and Thompson are gut-wrenching and almost unbelievable to accept, but they are true and accurate. However, with the recent success in the push by the vaccine industry supporters to demand all children be vaccinated, this series is as necessary for parents and pediatricians to read as it is for our congressional members to read and investigate thoroughly.

Foreword
I have always been fiercely pro-vaccine. I had all six of my children vaccinated. I believe that vaccines have saved millions of lives and that broad vaccine coverage is desirable. To achieve those goals, we need safe vaccines, transparent and reliable science, and an independent regulatory agency. The extraordinary revelations in this book by CDC insider and whistleblower Dr. William Thompson prove that, unfortunately, we have none of these.
The continued presence of Thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative, in vaccines is emblematic of the pervasive corruption and mismanagement in the CDCs vaccine program revealed by Dr. Thompson in the pages that follow. For years I have raised concerns about the pharmaceutical industrys persistent use of Thimerosal in vaccines eighteen years after FDA banned the use of this neurotoxin in other medicines and forced its removal from over one thousand over-the-counter drugs. Thimerosal is still present in four American vaccines, including giant bolus doses in fifty million flu vaccines administered each year to American adults, pregnant women, and infants. While the industry has removed Thimerosal from pediatric vaccines administered to American children, we still inoculate one hundred million children in developing nations with vaccines containing massive loads of neurotoxic mercurya course that will come back to haunt our nation in many dreadful ways.
In 2014, I published a book with Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Martha Herbert, Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak , a complete review of the hundreds of peer-reviewed studies that examine the effects of Thimerosal in animals and humans. Those studies link Thimerosal to a vast inventory of grim neurological disorders now epidemic in children, including ADD, ADHD, speech delay, tics, ASD, and autism. Other studies demonstrate Thimerosals causation to asthma and a tenfold increase in Alzheimers in adults exposed to Thimerosal-laced flu shots. During three years of research, we were not able to find a single credible study in the open public health literature that shows Thimerosal to be safe. These impacts are no surprise. Mercury is a potent brain poison hundreds of times more toxic than lead. Science shows that the ethyl mercury in Thimerosal is fifty times as toxic to brain cells and twice as persistent in the brain as the heavily regulated methylmercury in fish. Thimerosal is so toxic that when a doctor carelessly shatters a multidose flu vial, state laws require evacuation of the building and clean-up by trained hazmat crews wearing protective boots, gloves, and respirators. Common sense should tell us that its not a good idea to inject this poison into infants or expectant mothers. Nevertheless, motivated by greed and bureaucratic self-preservation, the pharmaceutical industry and its captive regulators at the CDC continue to promote Thimerosal as safe.
