Biographies
Peter Murphy is Professor of Public Policy and Management and Head of Research at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Public Scrutiny. Prior to joining the business school, he was a senior civil servant in four Whitehall departments, a director of the Government Office for the East Midlands and Chief Executive of Melton Borough Council in Leicestershire. He was responsible for emergency planning and coordinating the response to emergencies at local, regional and national levels for over 30 years.
Katarzyna Lakoma is a Research Associate and PhD researcher in the Emergency Services Unit of the Public Policy and Research Group at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University. A graduate of Poznan University of Economics and Business and Nottingham Trent University, her PhD research relates to the governance and management of Fire and Rescue Services in the UK. She is the Assistant Editor of the International Journal of Emergency Services.
Peter Eckersley is Senior Research Fellow in Public Policy and Management at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University and Research Associate at the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space, Erkner, Germany. He has worked at Newcastle University, the University of York and the University of Sheffield, and spent 10 years at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy before entering academia. His research interests are in public policy, multi-level governance and sustainability. He is an Editor of Local Government Studies.
Russ Glennon is Reader in Public Management and Strategy at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is a council member of the British Academy of Management and chair of its Public Management & Governance special interest group. He is also Vice Chair (Research) of the Public Administration Committee of the Joint Universities Council. Prior to joining academia, he was a senior manager in both local government and the private sector. His research interests include performance management, accountability and delivery of public services.
