Preface
Coffea is an important plantation crop with significant economic, social, and environmental implications. Because there is a surge in coffee research and new trends have developed, the aim of this book is to gather up-to-date information on recent trends in coffee commerce, biotechnology, post-harvest processing, quality improvement, and consequences of coffee consumption on human health. Altogether, the chapters are focused on five different themes. During the preparation of this book, we made sincere efforts to provide quality scientific information on the chosen themes on coffee. The first section begins with a glimpse on the current status of coffee production, the global market, sustainable benefits of the coffee sector, and contemporary topics on coffee research. The second section aptly highlights the latest developments in coffee metabolites analysis. The remaining sections describe advances in post-harvest processing technologies, the intervention of biotechnology for improvement of Coffea, and coffee consumption and human health. The chapters, written by the experts in their respective fields from 8 countries, provide vast coverage of areas on the topics, including the latest developments in the field. Each chapter has been presented in a stand-alone manner for all-inclusive understanding. We strongly believe that the content described here will be very useful to improve the coffee quality and sustainable benefits on the coffee sector. We hope this book will be useful for researchers in academia, professionals in industry, and those all over the world who are involved in coffee science.
