Preface
Fruits are the mature ovary and other allied parts. They possess lots of health-promoting agents. Adequate intake of fruits has been linked with a reduction in the risk of chronic diseases and maintenance of body weight. These agents are generally referred to as bioactive compounds. The presence of bioactive compounds with health-promising and disease-preventing benefits makes fruits functional foods. This book covers the most recent research-related role of fruits in nutraceuticals and functional foods and provides information related to bioactive compounds present in functional fruits. The book also covers the health elements of fruits. The novel techniques and methodologies used in the extraction, isolation, identification, and characterization of bioactive compounds in fruits are discussed. Accumulating such information related to functional fruits in a book to attract an audience towards their role in nutraceuticals, functional foods, and bioactive compounds thus paves the way for researchers, readers, and scientists, which is the main aim of this book.
