Acknowledgments

As the saying goes, You are only as great as the shoulders you stand on. I have been blessed to have stood on the shoulders of some of the greatest men who graced my life. These are Nontoxic Men, whom I wish to acknowledge in this book.

My late brother, Manny M. Glass, a True Gentleman, who lived by that creed on a daily basis. He was one of the most decent and wonderful men I ever met. I was proud to call him my brother and even prouder to call him my very best friend may he always rest in peace.

My wonderful, brilliant, charismatic, father, Anthony Glass, whose lifes goal was to raise me into being an accomplished lady and to fully live up to my potential. He was a man of great integrity and a man of his word, who had a tremendous amount of humanity and compassion toward others.

My mentor at the University of Michigan and the father of my field, Dr. H. Harlan Bloomer. He was both an elegant gentleman and a true scholar.

Dr. Robert J. Gorlin, my genius professor and mentor at the University of Minnesota in the field of craniofacial genetics, whose contributions to the field of medicine equal the contributions he made to everyones life he touched, including my own.

My dearest friend and colleague, Dr. Paul Cantalupo, who gave me even greater insight into the drama of life and human behavior. I also wish to acknowledge some other great men who touched my life along the way: Dr. Robert Huizenga, Dr. Henry Kawamoto, Dr. Juarez Avelar, Dr. Bernard Geltzer, Dr. Edward A. Kantor, Dr. James Mullendore, Dr. Alan Galsky, Mr. Robert Cassidy, Mr. Stanley Steinau, Mr. Jerry Dunphy, Dr. Jarosalv Cervenka, Mr. Weldon Rogers, Dr. Harvey Sarles, and Mr. Paul Sweeney.

Introduction

Too many women today are dating, living with, married to, working for, or working with a Toxic Man. Who is a Toxic Man? Hes a man who makes a woman feel bad about herself. He makes her feel less than she is. He is not supportive and makes her life miserable.

Most women feel stuck when they are in a relationship with a Toxic Man. They are either afraid to do anything about it or dont know where to begin to change their circumstance. This book is designed to help you enrich your awareness so that you can quickly identify, effectively deal with, and completely heal from any Toxic Man who has made your life miserable.

This book is not about male bashing. Instead, it is about empowering you to never be a victim again. You no longer have to suffer in silence. You have choices.

The Origins of the Toxic Man

In 1995, I wrote a best-selling book, Toxic People: 10 Ways of Dealingwith People Who Make Your Life Miserable, that is still very popular today. Published in almost every language throughout the world, it continues to be the bible of how to effectively identify and deal with specific types of toxic terrors. It was the first book of its kind to let readers know they no longer had to suffer in silence or remain victims. They now had numerous options available when it came to dealing with anyone who made their life miserable.

Because of the books popularity, along with the popularity of other venues I have used to educate others about Toxic PeopleTM, I am humbled by the fact that the term Toxic PeopleTM has now become a part of todays lexicon. Pop singer Britney Spears even sang about Toxic PeopleTM in her Grammy Awardwinning song, Toxic. As a result of reading Toxic People, hearing my talks, watching my television appearances, and reading my blogs, people from around the globe shared their inspiring stories with me. They described how my work on Toxic PeopleTM opened a new horizon for them. The common theme they relayed was how it dramatically changed their lives. They no longer felt chained by the burden of having to accept the toxic person in their life as part of their fate. They now had many choices available to them.

Throughout the years, after reading tens of thousands of letters and e-mails and speaking to countless clients and audience members post-lecture, it became evident that the majority of questions and comments I received came from women who had intimate, romantic, and even business relationships with men whom they characterized as being toxic to them. Women wanted to know not only why these men behaved so badly but also what they could do to change the mens behavior. Thats how this book came about I saw the need to give
