About This Book
Ive managed projects my entire career. I love everything about project management: establishing direction, breaking down large complex objectives into smaller and more manageable elements, gathering people around a common objective, trying to build trust, preparing steering meetings, negotiating changes with the customer, closing open issues, and obtaining approvals.
If you want to have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, then we probably share the same passion. Let me congratulate you on your decision. Not only do you believe that it is important to distinguish yourself from other professionals, but you have also chosen a highly reputable certification.
I designed McGraw-Hill Education: Project Management Professional Exam to support all those who wish to obtain the PMP certification, issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This book is a compilation of materials developed throughout years of experience as a project manager, thousands of hours preparing trainees for the PMP certification all over the world, and a continuous effort of collecting students feedback.
McGraw-Hill Education: Project Management Professional Exam provides a consolidated source of project management knowledge. I designed it to combine technical accuracy with a didactical approach. For easier reading and more comprehensive learning, I used a combination of learning tools:
Explanations for exercises
Tips regarding the most common exam questions
Examples to smooth the transition from theory to practice
Tables and images
Exam questions explained at the end of each chapter to test acquired knowledge
Lists of the topics that must be learned for the exam
Glossary of concepts
Glossary of acronyms
McGraw-Hill Education: Project Management Professional Exam does not include a description of all the inputs, tools, techniques, and outputs of all project management processes. Such descriptions are already included in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKGuide). It does however complement the PMBOKGuide with examples, exercises, and tips that help consolidate knowledge. To prepare for the PMP certification, you should combine this book with the PMBOKGuide, fifth edition, and your experience.
